Okay this may sound strange but I have to ask….does the thought of breastfeeding creep anyone else out a little bit?
I am planning on breastfeeding. But the thought of someone besides my spouse sucking on my nipple really weirds me out. Even if it’s my child. I don’t know how to get past that mental block. Am I alone in thinking this? How do you get past that?

I feel the same way and I’m using formula though I used it with my first hes 8 now and healthy , never gets sick never even caught covid and is mentally above his grade level…. So I decided to do the same with this baby I’ve had friends say the more they Breast feed the easier it got though.
thank you! Yes I’ve considered that or even exclusive pumping. But almost feel like a bad mom for even thinking that 🫣I’m glad your babe is healthy! That’s reassuring💗

yes it freaks me out too i think it’s bc we have no idea what to expect but to get over the mental block would probably watch more videos on it, research bc knowledge is power and it might help to learn more to overcome some of the unknown parts of it. also that it’s completely natural and our bodies are designed for it and that it’s the best possible nutrients you can give a baby so just knowing that especially after you give birth and see your baby for the first time will prob help that too. especially since it’s the best way to bond with them and they’re created to breast feed too :)
all of that’s so true - thank you!!!

I was exposed pretty early to breastfeeding since I have 18 nieces and nephews haha so I don’t particularly think anything weird about it but can understand why some others might! It’s definitely a mental barrier!

I felt the same way with my first (August 2022 baby) but for me personally, once she came out and I looked at the little person I made inside my body I decided she's survived and thrived living off of my body for the first 40 weeks of creation, why at least not continue to nourish and support her that way. It was hard and weird at first. But I tell you what.... It got to be easier than fixing bottles in the middle of the night with all of the wakings. Here we are 15 months later, I'm having twins in January, and she's still attached to the boobs. And it's draining and exhausting but I feel just as dependent on her as she is on me. But, all that being said, I'm likely not going to bf my twins because oof it gets too stressful at times. I'm a firm believer in "fed is best". Follow your instincts (that don't kick in until forever after birth 🙄) and when you think you're doing everything wrong and should've done something different, so does every other ftm. Whatever you decide, you and baby will be just fine. ❤️

Lol yes ! I'm using formula as well, I know people say breast is best and some family members are saying just give it a go but for me I just cant get over the mental block.
I even asked my midwife this week will the hospital try and pressure me ? And she said nope as long as baby is being fed that's the main thing and I also think it makes sense that other people can help with feeding 😊 x

Once you get into a routine of doing it it will be so normal and it'll be the best painful feeling lol. Best bonding with baby I miss it

Most women experience that breastfeeding is a completely different sensation and once you try it, you don’t get that weird feeling. Some mothers still find it uncomfortable and prefer to exclusively pump, doesn’t make them bad moms! It’s okay to have boundaries. I would consider trying and seeing what you think before making a final decision
thank you! That’s so sweet and encouraging!
thank you that’s helpful!

Nothing really weird in it for me… that’s the most normal thing ever tbh
