Screen time

Feel like this is a controversial topic but how much screen time does your LO have?

Less than an hr per week. Sometimes none at all

I think many moms will choose to skip this one fearing criticism. My reality is - some screen time here and there when I need some time to get things done.

Curious how those of you who do very little to no screen time keep LO occupied so you can get stuff done? Genuinely asking for advice here

I know a couple who don't allow any screen time - they have a nanny for their kids. I think having support plays a huge role here.

As a stay at home working momma, our tv is on all morning until nap time. I know people are gonna hate on that, but it’s what works for us. Honestly I’ve found providing it more allows my daughter to not turn into a zombie staring at it, and it’s more in the background (unless she’s having a rough day).

Avatar

I’ve actually noticed this as well, that my daughter uses it as background noise almost while she plays, but even then I have maybe 5 minutes to get something done before she wants me to entertain her 😅

Avatar

I feel that, and we absolutely have those days that are so frustrating!! I also feel one day I’ll find something that works to distract her, and the next she won’t care about it at all lol

Avatar

omg yessss!! I find something that excites her and the next day she’s like, “what am I supposed to do with this?” 😂

Avatar

True to be told for me is we try to aim a hour per day, but I have a velcro baby so sometimes 2 hours😮‍💨

Our tv is always on, it always has been. More for background noise than anything else. And most of the time what’s playing in the background is nursery rhymes, Miss Rachel, silly Miss Lilly or Gilmore girls. My lo never really watches what’s on and again it’s background noise.

We do quite a bit of screen time but it's mostly music based. We mostly ask ourselves is it too stimulating? If we turn it off, does it cause a tantrum? The answer is usually no. We are picky about what she watches, and its almost never on a small screen like a phone or tablet. Honestly, for us the tantrums are usually if you turn it off in the middle of a song.

We watch baby Einstein videos on YouTube for maybe 20-30 mins a day plus some Go dog go on Netflix for another 15-20 mins at random times. Sometimes we don’t watch any or we watch a little more.

Avatar

Hopefully I’m not a bad mom for saying this but a few times a day maybe? Sometimes she will go a day or two without the tv on but that’s pretty rare tbh. It depends on the weather outside and what our to do list for the day looks like. Whether I have iheart radio pulled up and listen to music, or baby sensory fruit jumping around, or ms rachel, I feel like its on a lot compared to my sister’s household. Her kid never watches tv. I would go crazy if I didnt get a mental moment to “myself”.

My little one is a big fan of pinkalicious haha so every morning I let her watch one episode of that and then try to make it to where she’s away from the t.v. And then when I have stuff to do like homework I’ll put on one episode miss Rachel so she learns with songs and then that’s it soooo 1hr and half maybe? For sure 20 minutes a day for her pinkalicious though 😂

Avatar

15-30 minutes a day just when I’m prepping dinner and need to keep her occupied or sometimes so she will sit still for a diaper change lol

Avatar

we do no screen time but he’s in daycare. on weekends we’re both home so we can alternate getting some stuff done but generally our house is a mess.

Avatar

same! I could never manage working from home without Ms Rachel. I also think it’s almost good to desensitize children to screens. Limiting it just makes them want it more.

Ms. Rachel, Baby Einstein or just music

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
