Recently a friend told me that she had her close family, especially those going to be around her baby that they would get vaccinated for RSV. Is this something others are doing? How do you go about that?

I have my family do tdapp for the whooping cough component. It’s good for 10 years. I personally am not making people get vaccinated for RSV. Ik the RSV vaccine for children is new and not covered by insurance yet so it’s $500 out of pocket. As far as adults, I believe you have to be over 60 for it to be covered by insurance. Idk how much it is out of pocket for a healthy adult. Are you sure she’s talking about the RSV vaccine and not whooping cough ?
If you want people to get a certain vaccine then just let them know if you want to visit baby within x amount of time after they’re born then I need you to get this vaccine because I’m trying to protect my child.

Is there a RSV vaccine now? Cause it is so horrible! My son was hospitalized over it 😭 I would definitely get it if available

there is for kids its $500 out of pocket rn. I believe for adults you have to qualify for it first

yikes 😬

lol that’s what I said. Our pediatrician mentioned it when I went to do flu shots and I told her how my son had RSV and was in the PICU. It’s gonna take some time for insurance to even partially cover it. Ik they have the shot covered by insurance for 60+ year olds but I haven’t heard any for adults under that age

damn they need to do something this RSV is horrible

Should be covered
