C section due to expected large baby

This was us. Our baby was on the 95th percentile and ended up with a section (by choice, over induction)

Really positive experience knowing I had made that choice. Team were lovely, chatted me through the whole experience, music was playing, anaesthetist kept us updated with what the surgeon was doing and in between just chatted with us in general which just made us really relaxed and our little girl was born within 15-20mins of them starting weighing 9lb1oz. I'm day 6 now and feel amazing. Managed recovery on just paracetamol and ibuprofen as well the first couple of days. Yesterday we went for our first walk.

Obviously, everyone copes and deals with surgery/pain differently, and normally, I'm the biggest wuss when it comes to pain, so we have been really surprised.

I wouldn't change anything about my birth.

I had this and I went for induction. Baby was 8lb 11oz and I suffered a lot of tearing. The hormone drip is very intense, I did 10.5hrs unmediated before having the epidural for another 10hrs before he arrived. I’d advise to accept pain relief early on! I didn’t want a C-section because I was really worried about the recovery period, however now I can understand why people would opt for one over induction! Having said that, my recovery has been a breeze x

I'm in the same position too! Baby is growing big - predicted birth weight of 9.4lbs 🙃 I was offered induction, cesarean or just to progress with the pregnancy.

I've chosen elective cesarean over induction, mainly from what I've heard about inductions (usually horror stories 😕) and the risks associated with shoulder dystocia and crazy long labour's - like bad tearing and a high percentage of inductions ending in emergency sections.

To be honest, I've only really heard positive things about planned sections!

I think there's still such a stigma around c-sections, like you mentioned about 'proper reasons'. I've been questioned a few times, by family (MIL mainly🙄), about why I don't want an induction and how much I'll struggle after having the cesarean, and that another family member managed to slog it through 3 days of induced labour with her second baby 👀🫠🤦🏼‍♀️ 3 days!!

Me too. I’m booked for a section at 39 weeks. Baby is on the 97.1 percentile.

I chose section over induction because I had the drip after my first.. never again. I was left with quite a lot of trauma down below because I dilated so quickly.

Do whatever you feel is best for you and baby. And sometimes whatever is best for you is best for baby. Last thing you want is to go naturally and end up in an emergency section anyway xx

I was induced with my first in 2020 due to her measuring so big (38 weeks), ended in a emergency C-section.

This time baby is also messing big, I’m having my elective section on Tuesday! I’ve heard the experience is so much nicer and calmer

This is exactly the same position we’re in - our baby is in the 97th percentile so we’ve decided to have an elective c section because of the horror stories and potential risks with the induction!

3 days! Ouch! There’s no medal for delivery. Although at three days she probably needs one!
