Hi all, I think I’ve made a bit of a nightmare for myself. Me and my partner have purchased a car seat for baby that is fixed in the car and doesn’t come out - this was our choice as we don’t want to get into a habit of leaving baby in the car seat etc, and we have been gifted a travel system by his sister (but she needs to keep the car seat) so when looking at prices it just seemed crazy to not go for a seat that wasn’t fitted into the car permanently..
However, I’ve now realised we’ll have an issue when leaving the hospital after she is born as we won’t have a car seat to carry her out of the hospital in? Although the car will be outside with her car seat in…
What do people do in these situations?! 🙃😂

Get a spare one🤷🏽♀️

it’s just an additional cost that’s not needed though for the sake of walking from the ward to the car outside?

Bring the bassinet from your pram to walk them out with then I think a midwife may just follow you out to double check there is a car seat in place x

We had the same problem when I had my daughter a couple of years ago and the midwives were happy with us just using the pram. I think there used to some car seats being fixed now 😊

At my hospital, a midwife would of come out to the car with us, just take your pram to take the baby down to the car 🙂

We also have this issue! The car seat we bought is fixed in the car and doesn’t come out unless you take the whole isofix system too 🤦🏼♀️ Good idea to use the pram!

I wouldn’t buy an additional car seat. We had one with the travel system but literally only used it to bring our LO home… was a waste of money.
The fixed car seat was the best purchase I had ever made.
Bring the pram in the boot or carry the baby out to the car.Just make sure they are wrapped up warm.

You have to speak to your hospital some allow midwives out to the car to check others don't let you out without a car seat with baby and some don't bother checking at all

Can you not borrow the one from the travel system just for the travel home and then after you can give them it back??

You can wear baby out in a sling- much less hassle than taking the puschair in! They may or may not want to come out with you to check if you have a seat but just dislike them being caried in arms because of fall risk.

I would just be careful with a fitted car seat as whilst they advertise from birth the majority do not provide a safe fit for new borns. Car seat safety on facebook is a great informative page!😊
