Baby wearing

How long have people typically used slings etc for their baby? I'm wanting to get a baby wearing coat for over winter but the one I want is pretty expensive if I'm not going to be able to use it for very long!
Anyone really liked having a baby wearing coat or have any other options they have used?

Have you looked at coats that have the zip in panel to be able to baby wear? When you take the panel out they are a normal coat. I think seraphine usually have them.

They have an extra panel that you can attach to the coat so it stretches over the baby but leaves there head free, you can remove it if you aren't baby wearing. I'm currently just wearing a big coat and not zipping it up the whole way but I don't know if that will still work as she gets bigger 🤷‍♀️

Ignore my comment, you already know the coats I mentioned 🙈

Look into a wombat go. It is lightweight and under £100. If you wait until black friday, there might be a sale. It is not a winter coat per se, but you can put layer underneath to keep you warm. There are preschool carriers to technically you can wear baby until they are 4 or 5 years old. I know a few sling consultants who wear their babied until that age. Some sling consultants will have a babywearing coat for hire if you want to try it out.

If you don't mind 2nd hand, babywearing UK or Affordable sling for sale or swap UL facebook groups are two places you can grab some 2nd hand babywearing lated items for cheap.

Had my nearly 2.5 year old in the carrier at the weekend, although back carrying. I front carried until she was about 18 months and then it got too awkward for me, but I’m short - if I’d been taller I could have kept doing it. Our carrier doesn’t allow for outward facing though, that may also have made a difference to me.

I've seen the seraphine ones but they are like £150!

thanks for the recommendations, I'll have a look!

I got a seraphine coat in very good condition from Vinted. It's ideal. 😁 Vinted helps to knock the price down a bit, take a look.

To be honest I just used my boyfriends coats/sweaters. I still babywear on occasion and my son is almost 2

I got a baby wearing coat from George at ASDA for £30…. It’s great!

I got one on vertbaudet, wore it pregnant, and can get it over a structured carrier with my giant baby with loads of space. Warm enough to be enough for the winter and really easy to regulate temperature for you both. Highly recommend. You can use the coat as a regular coat without the zip in later but I think I’ll be ready to say goodbye to it by then.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
