We had a baby last year and very nearly called her Margot but went for Delilah instead. We are having another baby in March (don’t know the sex) and Margot is still our top contender. However I’m getting increasingly worried about its popularity and I’m always seeing posts on here about people using that name. I know people will comment and say if you like it then just use it why does it matter, but personally it would really bother me and I wouldn’t want her going to school with several people on her class with the same name. Should I opt for something else? There are similiar names I like such as Martha, however I particularly like Margot as I like the nn Maggie

You've just got to weigh up how much you love the name by how much it would get to you if your child's name was super popular. Having a popular name doesn't always mean you're going to meet lots of others with the same name. I was an Emma growing up in the late 90's and I don't remember meeting that many others over the years.

I felt like this with my sons name, I wanted to call him Theodore but like you didn’t want him to have several classmates with the same name and having to go by a nickname so we chose it as his middle name.
Is they any names you like that will go well with Margot as the middle name?? X

We liked Margot (but spelt Margaux) but in the last few months we know 3 people who have welcomed baby girls and called them Margot. So decided against it! But if we didn’t know all those people then it would still be our lead contender as it’s a beautiful name

Margot is on our list but I’m having a wobble too about the popularity of it now. I need a name to go with my little boy Hugo

My name is really common. That's 2 of us in the comments already. And it has never bothered me at all! Common isn't a huge problem.

Something I learnt recently that put my mind at ease for this exact thing is that people are using many more names than they used to, so the top 10 names today are significantly less popular than the top 10 names when you were a kid. This Tiktok explains it a lot better - it's American but the same thing is happening in the UK https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeNCrf5u/

Awwh Maggie is so cute!!! Little Maggie
ah this is interesting! Thank you

Our baby girl is called Margot (Maggie as a nickname)
Don’t know anyone else with a Margot!
