Is it weird to crawl before sitting up unassisted?

My 7 month old is on the verge of crawling. She's been doing the rocking on hands and knees precursor to crawling. She hasn't really gotten the whole sitting up unassisted thing, though. Are there ways to help her build her core for sitting?

I thought my son was going to crawl first. He rocked back and forth a few days but would fall over within seconds of sitting. Now, he's still rocking, but sitting perfectly. Every baby is different though. As long as she hits the milestones, I don't think it matters what order. The best way to build the strength to sit, is to just help her sit with less and less assistance over time.

No every baby is different it’s not weird! My baby boy was crawling at 5 months and just now can sit on his own (he’s 7.5mo) but he also started standing now too so it’s all different for every baby. He’ll probably be walking by 9 months but whenever and however it happens is good, just supporting him with “exercises” like how you do tummy time stuff. I was having him crawl over my legs or over pillows to help build his hip muscles bc he kept army crawling which is still fine i just figure I’m there why not do some extra stuff with playtime! Some great exercises for babies doing sitting, standing, walking etc

Mine started crawling by 5 months and is 7 months now and has been sitting unassisted for a few weeks. Can now go from belly to bum and is starting to pull herself up to stand

@Stephanie Thank you. I think because she's a little physically delayed I worry a lot about development. She had some pretty bad torticollis and has been in birth to 3 program for physical therapy and development.

My daughter can sit up with a little assistance but she’s been getting better without too. She hasn’t learned how to crawl yet. But she’ll be 8 months January 3rd. When I was a baby from what I was told I didn’t start crawling until 9 months. But if she doesn’t start soon I’ll be worried. I’ve been worried because I also don’t think she’s been hitting her milestones like she’s supposed to

My daughter was crawling before sitting unassisted! She still needs some help with sitting. Try not to worry. ☺️

Just updating since I was worrying before. Honestly, as others said, babies develop at their own pace. My daughter is closing in on 8 months in 5 days and she's decided to work on sitting up unassisted/pulling herself up to sit on her butt or knees, crawling, and pulling to stand all at the same time. She gets herself a little confused at times, but the main thing we need to work on is the sitting. Her physical therapist said she's on track for everything and is doing really well. She said it's funny how one day you're worrying and then like 5 days later they're doing what you were worried about them not doing. Which is exactly the type of thing that happened with my situation. So keep optimistic and don't always assume the worst if your baby isn't quite hitting stuff on time. If you really are concerned about something you feel is unusual or don't know if it is, please consult with your baby's doctor. They know better than Google. 🫶

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
