Nuby Rapid Cool - Hot Shot

Does anyone use the hot shot method with the rapid cool? I’ve started using it today but I notice that it’s still too warm for baby to drink once the bottle is made? I do 30ml boiling water hot shot, add 5oz powder, swirl in bottle , then add the remaining 120ml boiling water to the rapid cool then mix in the bottle with the got shot once cooled. What am I doing wrong?

I add the powder then all the water swirl for 30 secs or so. Then turn it upside down and wait for the word to be green. Takes roughly a minute for it too cool and my little one takes 120ml

When doing the hot shot method you need to wait for it too cool after it's fully made as you're adding cool boiled water to boiling water. Let's say making it fully in the rapid cool not using hot shot method the bottle temp is 37 degrees, using the hot shot method (boiling water 1oz added to 4oz cool boiled water from rapid cool) the temp could be for example 40 degrees, so waiting 10 ish minutes should be enough for it to be at drinking temp. When we use hot shot method we test on wrist before giving

@jess do you had the formula powder to the rapid cool? I wanted to avoid this to save sterilising

I do the hot shot method too. If you open the lid and pour a small amount out into another cup to test the temperature with your finger, put the lid back on and give it another swirl. Wait 30 seconds even if the lid doesn’t turn yellow, then try the temp again

We’ve dropped the ratio of boiling water (the hot shot) down to 20ml and add 130ml of the water to the Nuby. I find that then adding the cooled 130ml back into the boiling 20ml brings it to a temp of 38c which is perfect.

Oh yeah I add it to the rapid cool then just wash and chuck it in a Milton cold steriliser for 15 mins. I only use them for nights so I don’t need to re use until the next night as we have two xx

@jess so do you sterilise after every bottle or every night?

Mine goes green after 20 seconds I think the lid is faulty from where I soaked it for too long. I would set a timer for at least 2 mins depending on how much, I can’t remember how long you need for 5oz. I find it is cool by then, but also remember you’ve got boiling water in the bottle so it won’t be as cool as it would be if you put the milk in. So even an extra 30 seconds than what it says if you find it’s still quite hot should help

It’s honestly a lifesaver when used correctly, it took me a few tries to get used to and to learn it went green before it was actually ready

Hi girls sorry to jump on this a year later, just trying this method and don’t know if I’m doing it wrong? I pour 6 ounces into bottle, 5 ounces into Nuby rapid cooler and leave 1 ounce in bottle. Mix formula. Cool 5 ounces in Nuby rapid cooler and add to bottle. But then I end up with 7 ounces and not 6!! How on earth is that happening when I only put 6 ounces of water in?!

It just thickens up with the formula in it I think, we just gave the LO whatever was in the bottle and he drank whatever he wanted, whether hungry enough to finish it or not
