Hi!!
I have found out I am about 5weeks pregnant with our second baby, but now I'm worried about finance etc.
I'm only entitled to SSP but would I be entitled to claim UC while on maternity? I have a partner, he earns 25k per year! I've been on a calculator and it suggests I would be able to claim £425 a month but I'm not sure if this is right or now?
Also, does anyone have any experience doing shared parental leave with their partner? His employer offers 6 months full pay and 6 months half so seems silly financially for me to be off if he can get significantly more income even though I would be devastated.

If you’ve entered the correct info into a reputable calculator such as entitedto or turn2us, it should be pretty accurate

So, entitledto is NOT accurate because it does not take into a lot of things! I can't stand it when people suggest it! You are much better off doing a manual calculation!
Your partners wages are taken into account. Your maternity is also likely to be treated as a wage and deducted £ for £. Then take into account of rent or mortgage etc etc.

is it not? I’ve seen lots of ppl recommend it. I assumed it would cover all the basics like housing, children, earnings, etc and include them in the calc.
I’ve always used turn2us and found that accurate altho I’m a single parent so don’t have partner to include.
Also I thought smp was treated as a wage, not deducted £ for £ like maternity allowance is

@Helen no it isn't because it doesn't correctly deduct actual wages, doesn't consider rent or mortgage or even anything. It is so unreliable. Doesn't count any savings doesn't add up any extra elements such as disability. Your better off doing a manual calculation.
