My baby doesn't sleep through the night (every 2 hours at best). My mum always tells me to "make her bed". Give her a comforter (she has dummy but she means like a bunny) and tuck a blanket in half of the cot. My baby is now 7 months.
I know the no items in cot rule so I've always said no.
Mums logic is
1. She will find comfort eventually in bunny to help self soothe
2. She will feel more snug in the cot with blanket
3. She will understand its night time and this is her bed
What are your thoughts. She's had 3 babies and done the same for each

My boy is 6 months (dob 21/6)
He’s fed to sleep each night, and popped into his cot. Not sure what it is but he sleeps most nights (1-2 wake-up’s max!!) BUT day naps do not exist

🥲
Apparently sleep cycles are what can wake them at the 2 hours. Glad we're all in this together

I have a riff raff teddy and don’t put it in the cot with baby. I wouldn’t feel comfortable having anything in there. I used a sleep bag and that’s it. We still have two wakes a night 12/1 and 3/4 and I still give a feed then to get back to sleep although I’m sure he could just resettle himself but I don’t mind for now.

My Bub was born 19/6 and his rocked while being fed then dummy popped in and once asleep put in his cot but I find he wakes up a lot more when in the cot all night most of the time he sleeps with us and he pretty much get a full nights rest with just having to pop the dummy back in I’m finding it hard to get him to stay asleep threw the night in the cot day sleeps he can sleep up to 2.5hrs in there but night he stirs a lot more I think once they master how to transition on there own it will be easier

hmm ok. No matter what I try (no feeds until 4 hours to break snack habit, rocking, feeding, white noise etc etc etc) nothing works

yeah and this is oretty much my mums point. She tells me i have to find ways to make her more comfortable in there. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I use a pillow my sons always used one since he was born as he would be Elevated with one’s due to reflux and he loves the comfort feeling he refuses to sleep on hard surfaces I’ve tried the cry it out method with nothing in the cot and he will deadset cry the whole time never had a successful attempt feel like it’s a waste of time doing that

I switched from white noise to brown noise (he falls asleep to white noise then I change it to brown) and he now sleeps so much better and only wakes once for a feed... might be worth trying?

Red Nose (the SIDS prevention org) is actually fine with soft toys in cot at 7 months for a normally developing baby. To me it seems like way less of a risk than a blanket so I might try it.

Blanket no.. we use a sleeping bag
But ive just given bubs a comforter teddy as shes always trying to grab and hold something (atm its her hair) so though that would be better and she uses it and rubs it onto her face to settle herself plus a dummy..shes 6months 3wka

such a little cutie. 💗

honestly how can we know this stuff hey🤣🤣 I'll give it a go, thank you

really, didn't know this! That makes me feel better

okay! Thanks Belle

phew, someone else the same as us! My boy is almost 7 months and fed to sleep each night before he goes into his cot. Most nights he sleeps from about 8/8:30pm - 5/5:30am… some nights he might wake for a little feed. Amazing, however day naps are almost impossible unless it’s on someone/in the car/carrier

5 b's.. bath, butt, bottle, burp, bed. Works like a charm. Most nights it's just warm water in the tub. I don't let her nap past 5pm. I start the routine at 6:30, she's asleep by 7-8 and sleeps thru the night EVERY NIGHT since 9 weeks old. Lay flat on her back half awake with a couple toys (think teddy bears and paci). She will play till she's tired and not wake up till 8am.

incredible. Happy for you and bub!!
