Sleeping at nursery

What on earth!?? Find a different nursery. That's absurd.
When my son falls asleep, they put him in a cot regardless what time it is. He tends to have 2 naps at nursery too.

oh no it's too late now we have paid the first month and no where else near by that's any good has available space! 😫

that's a shame! Your child isn't going to be able to magically stay awake an extra 3 hours in the morning before having a nap. I would be worried how they will deal with that. I don't think it's right to just leave them asleep in the corner. You should definitely demand that they put them in a safe sleep space for naps at whatever time they are needed.

So they'll probably have little mats they put down for floor sleeping.
But yes a nap in the corner on the floor is pretty common. Assuming it's to do with ratios. But I am surprised that a baby room doesn't have the provisions to deal with a 2 nap schedule. My eldest had 2 naps long past 1...

I used to work in a nursery and we had a separate sleeping room with cots in and we worked round your babies sleeping routine to when you wanted them to have there nap. God I wish my little girl would nap I’m lucky if she has 10mins a day x

Thanks for the advice ladies, I'm calling the nursery to see if I can get my first payment back as he hasn't started yet. This is really stressing me xx

This sounds stupid, the nursery we have chosen does this once they go up to the toddler room (around 18 months) as most are on 1 nap per day by then. But in the baby room they have a quiet corner with a cot and rocking chair and prams outside and follow our nap schedule x

That sounds ridiculous, I was asked prior what my babys schedule was like and they will follow it as best as they can! All the babies sleep in the morning around a similar time, but unfortunately he's been refusing his afternoon nap there! But they have tried and that's all I can ask x

They should be sticking to your babies routine as closely as possible. I would clarify this with the manager/room manager as it does not sound correct.

Depends what room usually. I worked in a nursery and in baby rooms the babies nap when they're tired and they have a separate sleep room. Older kids who have one nap a day, they ask the parents to try and synchronise with nursery and put the kids down all at 12 after food x

Our nursery is not like this. The baby room has half for sleep space and baby sleeps when they usually would.

When they go into the next room 18 months - then the majority of children sleep after lunch.

Doesn’t sound right to me, they should cater for your child x

Update ladies, thank you for advice it was really helpful! I cancelled my payment to this nursery, I've called another one that has a separate baby sleep room that can accommodate for any time of day. I honestly don't understand how this nursery has well rested babies!

The nursery I signed up with had the same routine and policy. They didn’t even attempt to put him down before 12 so by then he was hysterical and nothing helped to calm him. I pulled him out and we ended up finding a childminder who genuinely prioritises his needs (and I think getting enough sleep at this age is one of the main ones). Nursery staff just don’t have the capacity to provide enough one to one care like childminders do, in my opinion. Works very well for us. Hope you manage to sort / things improve for you. x

I work in a nursery & my daughter attends the baby room! She is still on 2 naps a day 10 & 2ish they have a separate sleeping side & will put her down in a cot when she’s ready for a nap. A nursery should work around your routine & shouldn’t expect that every baby is going to sleep at 12!! We deffo don’t do that where I work xx
