Peri bottles…

I saw the spritz for bits but I’m not in a position financially to spend £19.50 on a product 😢 if I order on Amazon I would hope it would come before I go into labour 😅 I’ve left a lot of purchases really late because I was busy working a temporary job and procrastinate really bad… like I packed my hospital bag on Tuesday just in case I go into labour early and I still don’t have everything I need 🤣🫣 x

Probably a less common experience..

I had bought one as I’d heard so much about it stinging to wee afterwards and frankly was terrified at the thought. I needed an episiotomy for a forceps delivery and had a lot of stitches but I was lucky and it didn’t sting at all to wee afterwards.

If I had my time again I’d probably wait and see how I felt/ if I needed it. Someone can always run out and grab you one/ next day delivery etc x

i 100000% recommend it. my hospital gave bottles that looked like dollar store water bottles and it did not do the job. thankfully a family member bought the mom frida peri bottle and because of the angle it was absolutely perfect. fill it with warm water and it’s the best lol

I had both a peri bottle and spritz for bits and used neither of them! I think it really depends on how your birth goes whether you actually need them or not! (I didn’t tear but never found it painful to wee after)

Loved mine it used cold water as it was a boiling summer and it really helped!

I had one but never used it. I had episiotomy which lead to failed forceps. Ended in emergency section. Even tho I had episiotomy it didn’t sting or hurt to pee after

Maybe try Vinted?

I used one and it helped. It didn’t sting very much to pee, but you can’t really wipe yourself and you’ll be very tender and raw down there. The water is just a way to provide some comfort. Warm water also can help the healing process.

I bought a peribottle and some lavender oil off Amazon. Worked a treat! Couldn’t of lived without it tbh x

Ive had 2 babies the first with forceps and 2 tears and second nothing and didnt need it with either or spritz for bits. If u want spritz for bits look on vinted people sell in brand new but cheaper than the shops x

I used mine loads - got mine from shein really cheap!

You can get spritz for bitz on vinted as it’s cheaper but I sold mine on there as I only used it once or twice, it was cooling and a nice relief but it didn’t hurt enough to need to use it a lot? The peri bottle I didn’t use for a wee I actually used to wash down there in the shower instead but again I wouldn’t say it’s an essential; it all depends on your recovery and how you are after birth down below if that makes sense

I really like my peri bottle think it was £8 or something on Amazon. You could probably use a sports bottle too but might be more awkward to squeeze over the toilet while you're also sitting on it. I had witch hazel cooling wipes or pad inserts things hated them and spritz for bits don't think I used either

Yes . 1000% times yes peri bottles are great . The only thing that helped me with peeing with stitches - trust me the stinging is worse than birth😅 I got mine on vinted people sell them cheap when couldn’t use them eg c section mammas . Also great for first few showers as my shower pressure was too much 😅

I just used a jug of warm water, does the same job and a lot cheaper 😁

I bought a peri bottle because it was highly recommended. I never used it because I had the mindset of if I can have a baby I can manage a bit of stinging when I pee. Honestly for me it was awful and I wish I had used it. I think it depends on tearing and stitches etc as I had a 2nd degree tear and labial lacerations but my friend who didn't tear at all had no problem what so ever when using the bathroom after birth

amazon and absolutely essential after birth!!

Definitely recommend the peri bottle. I got mine from Amazon. I would also recommend getting maternity pads in different sizes so you can size down as bleeding reduces

wanted to add my experience as someone who ended up having a c section.
I bought a peri bottle as had planned for a vaginal birth but ended up having a section. I thought it would go to waste but then when I tried to get into my shower for the first time after the section, I found it really difficult to step into the bath. I tried sitting on the edge and swinging my legs over etc but for about two weeks I just couldn’t do it without a lot of pain. I was fine with washing my hair over the bath and giving myself a flannel bath for a little while but was concerned about how to go about washing my incision once the dressing was off. That’s when the idea hit me. I would sit on the toilet or over a wash basin and use the peri bottle to wash my incision. It worked wonders and I actually found it a better clean than the shower because it was gentle and I could angle it to directly hit it instead of just letting the shower water run over it (which was difficult with an overhang)

Also, you could grab one off Vinted - I just sold mine there 😊

i brought one, i had a 2nd degree tear and the first pee after didnt hurt because of the numbing injections but i didnt even use it in the hospital, i used it when i got home because you cant really wipe so it helped with that but didnt use it for stinging or anything!

I got one from boots but then ended up having an emergency section and didn’t need to use it - so I was able to return that and other items I didn’t end up needing (like a tens machine!). I think I had a month to return and sent my husband to do it xxx

I brought spritz for bits and a peribottle and used neither as I had a section. They are all available on amazon prime so if you decide you want one you could order from the hospital and it would be home for you when you get there!

I got one from Amazon and it was really helpful for keeping my episiotomy stitches clean.

I didn’t buy one either time nor did I need it. I think it may depend more on where and to what extent you tear as to whether it stings when you pee.

I had one and it was really helpful. Also got a bunch of cheap flannels to pat dry as well as was softer. Also used the spritz for bits and found it really helpful. And the natura care cotton maternity pads! I had an episiotomy and they were both really helpful - especially to feel clean and help the wound heal.

Yes! I had a C-section and found it will so useful due to the bleeding. Much easier than wiping!

Yes they are essential if you have stitches and I recommend spritz for bitz on Amazon!! Really helpful (worth the money)

Couldn’t have survived without it after an episiotomy. They gave me a very simple one at the hospital which I preferred over the Frida one but I liked to have both filled because sometimes 1 wasn’t enough.

100% essential To rinse off blood that will be down there while you’re healing! I used it each time I went to the restroom to rinse off then put on a fresh pad. Also, if you have a tear you will 100% need the peri bottle when you pee to help with the stinging. I did get one from the hospital, but preferred the Frida Mom one (off Amazon) because the nozzle is bent upwards and easier to use. I used mine multiple times a day for atleast 3 weeks straight because I had a 1st degree tear.

Other essentials (you will probably get from the hospital):
Adult diapers/shorts - really good for first few days to week postpartum. When I ran out of the hospital ones I used the Frida Mom brand.
Witch hazel pads
The pads that you bend and the turn cold (don’t know the proper name). I didn’t think i would want a cold/wet pad on, but they 100% help for vaginal soreness.

Absolutely! I had so many stitches I was afraid to wipe and in the shower would put a little summers eve in and spray away. My hospital did give you a bottle but I had already had my own (frida) and the nurses there said it was a good choice to choose that over the hospital bottle

Absolutely essential. You can get one or two from the hospital. Alternative-wise I’ve always wondered about if one of those cheap refillable ketchup/sauce bottles would work but I never see them in the stores.

I still use my peri bottle to this day because it’s a cleaner clean. Never going back lol. 😆

I had a second degree tear and didn’t use one. When I peed normally it stung, but you just lean forward and then the stream doesn’t hit the stitches.
I literally only felt the stinging that first time and just leaned forward the rest of the time and never felt a thing.

In my experience, not at all essential. Pregnancy and postpartum supplies are huuugely profitable for companies claiming they’re essential

I used it sooo much! So much blood to clean up. I bleed for 6 weeks. No way I would have wiped with stitches down there!

I bought one but never used it. Postpartum weeing and general recovery down there was way better than I expected. I had a vaginal birth with several stitches.

Super essential if you have stitches also dab do not wipe😂 but also it was nice to wash away the bloody and freshen up xx

Essential for sure!! I used it for about a month after birth with my episiotomy. Helps prevent burning while you pee (gently spray it down there as you’re peeing) and to clean in shower. Hospital provides you with one but the Frida one is way better, the angle nozzle and shower spray is way better then the direct spray from hospital bottle. Good luck!!!
