Collecting feedback for Royal Stoke!

Hi everyone! I’m a Maternity & Neonatal Voices Champion for Royal Stoke Hospital and we collect feedback for the maternity and neonatal services and pass it on to ensure future mothers and their families get better care. Does anyone have any feedback that they would be willing to share? I don’t have to include your name if you would prefer me not to. It’s just so we can see how mothers and their families are receiving care and if they’re satisfied!

It would also be great to know if you received any breastfeeding support and if so, how was it? And also if you felt supported in making your own decisions for your pregnancy and birth.

Feel free to message me privately if you’d rather do that instead!

Thanks 🩷

Hi Becky, are you able to share the feedback you’ve received? I’m due to have a c-section at stoke in less than 3 weeks time and I’m absolutely petrified after reading some horror stories about the hospital on here. What happens when you send in the feedback? Do you get info on next steps and how they’re going to provide better care? X

Hey lovely! Unfortunately we cannot share our feedback because we have to get consent from the mothers who give us feedback to share it and that can become very complicated! However if you need to then feel free to message me, I had a c section in April 2022 and I can assure you it’s not as frightening as you think. My birth was very relaxed, positive and just good 🥰 Try not to listen to horror stories. Some people have good births and some people unfortunately don’t but that doesn’t mean that you will have a bad birth. To answer the next part of your question, when people send feedback we write it into a report and we send it off to the board of directors for midwifery and also the matrons on the wards where this feedback took place whether it be positive or negative. It’s also discussed in meetings (if the mother gives us consent to do so). We also very often get asked on how we believe their services can be improved and they bring along the staff who can make those changes to that

to that meeting and then if they’re able to make changes then they do so or if it’s positive feedback then they honour that staff member or team that got mentioned. Also if the feedback is birth trauma or anything negative related then we give the mother or the family information on mental health support or specialist midwives who can open up your notes and discuss it all with you so you can make sense on what happened. I hope this helps xx

Hi Becky, thanks for all the info! I suppose on here I’m only going to read horror stories as people don’t tend to report back when they receive the care they expect! Also it’s just out of my control isn’t it so it’s good to have awareness of these things and ensure I’m advocating for myself. Let’s hope they’re fully taking on board all the feedback and making the changes they need to! You’re doing some great work on behalf of us all! X

Absolutely! We are seeing some changes so it does seem like our feedback is being taken on board! Thank you so much for the kind words and I hope your c section birth goes well 🥰 xx

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

Anyone else felt like this?

Hi, I’m 4 months postpartum, little one sleeps through the night and is formula fed, the last week I’ve felt extremely tired and very hungry! Just wondered if anyone else has felt this way/experienced this?

Hey what are your current symptoms?

I’m 37+5

I’m pretty mobile still but anything over a hour or 2 and I’m in discomfort

Getting up from a sitting position is hard

Some of baby’s movements now are bordering on painful especially around my crotch/pelvis

I’m exhausted very easily and nap every single day

Can basically only breathe out my mouth now and I’m snoring and dribbling 😂

Standing in one leg is very painful 😂

Some waves of pain/ tightening but I regular and mild

Low period type aches

And I feel like a fire breathing dragon with this acid reflux

My nose is growing 😂

My fingers swell slightly and go numbs in my sleep so that and constant toilet breaks keep me up ( checked swelling with MW and consultant and all normal, not a worry)

I also do not want to be social in person like I’d rather everyone just be my penpal atm lol

What are your symptoms?
