I’m really anxious about the fact that I have had a urine infection now for nearly 8 weeks. I had to be on antibiotics weeks before Christmas and my new urine test has shown that I still have it. I’m worried about whether it is harming baby? I don’t have another appointment booked now until Feb to ask anyone 😩
Has anyone else had this? I know we’re more prone to them when pregnant but this feels silly 😣

If you’re having symptoms still, you need more antibiotics. They need to send it away to be cultured to make sure you’re being given the right antibiotics. If you don’t have symptoms, they’ll usually leave it
Yeah they just keep prescribing me antibiotics but it’s just how long it’s been going on for! I’m worrying about it becoming a kidney infection or harming baby in some way

Not to worry you but the antibiotics that they are giving you are not clearing it, the concern in pregnancy is the infection can irritate the uterus which in hand could potentially put you into early labour (was only talking to my midwife about this last week and she told me about the importance of treating it effectively asap). I agree with Rebecca, your sample needs to be cultured to get the correct antibiotics to kill it off properly, this has been going on way too long. Hope you get sorted soon x

You defo need a sample sending off.
I had an ecoli infection last year and it couldn’t. Properly shift it till me 3rd lot of antibiotics

Hope you're not feeling to poorly with it. I've had three confirmed urine infections in 17 weeks. All growing bugs each time. I do suffer with recurring uti's, though, and have bladder issues.
Ask your GP or midwife to send off your urine so they can see which bug it grows. Only then will it show you what antibiotics will be effective. Taking medication is nerve-wracking but hang in there because the benefits outweigh the risks alot of the time. X
