Leave

Hello, I am just wondering for those who work full time how are you managing appointments for ultrasound/doctors appointments? I’m 8 weeks and have two appointments coming up, which means two days off work…do you just get a medical certificate and use it as sick leave? Do you let your workplace know in advance about your appointments?

I just take the day off and do it through HR. Let them know you need accommodations for your appointments. Usually they’ll tell you work it out with your boss. My boss said give him 2 weeks notice but in reality I just tell him when I know and he switches it around. I asked for a doctors note my first appointment for HR . But I wouldn’t use sick leave or anything else you may have to use at a later date. They have to accommodate you just have to give reasonable notice about days you need off

I hadn't told my boss earlier so where I could I worked around it to cover up the time if it was really not possible I took time off as annual leave x

Its a struggle. So many appointments especially in 3rd trimester and im high risk so have more. Plus some antenal classes in the day online. I have a busy job so struggle fitting all in. I dont even tell manager and just go to appointments but i have a lot of autonomy at work and noone checking on me and do way more than my hours anyway. In nhs you can do appointments paid, not penalised

The appointment lasts like an hour, so technically you can take a few hours off and be back to work. That is what i did. I always scheduled the appointment for first thing in the morning or in the afternoon.

I ended up telling HR and my direct manager early on as I was really struggling with nausea. I’m glad I did as once they know they have to make accommodations for you and my booking appointment ended up being 3 hours long. I simply tell work I’ve got an appointment at XYZ time and don’t give them a return time, I just go back to working after my appointment and they’re fine with that.

I’m fortunate that my job is hybrid. If an appointment falls on a day I’m supposed to be in the office, I ask to switch my days around and my manager is usually perfectly fine with that!

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

Anyone else felt like this?

Hi, I’m 4 months postpartum, little one sleeps through the night and is formula fed, the last week I’ve felt extremely tired and very hungry! Just wondered if anyone else has felt this way/experienced this?

Hey what are your current symptoms?

I’m 37+5

I’m pretty mobile still but anything over a hour or 2 and I’m in discomfort

Getting up from a sitting position is hard

Some of baby’s movements now are bordering on painful especially around my crotch/pelvis

I’m exhausted very easily and nap every single day

Can basically only breathe out my mouth now and I’m snoring and dribbling 😂

Standing in one leg is very painful 😂

Some waves of pain/ tightening but I regular and mild

Low period type aches

And I feel like a fire breathing dragon with this acid reflux

My nose is growing 😂

My fingers swell slightly and go numbs in my sleep so that and constant toilet breaks keep me up ( checked swelling with MW and consultant and all normal, not a worry)

I also do not want to be social in person like I’d rather everyone just be my penpal atm lol

What are your symptoms?
