Hi mamas, I had my baby on 1 Aug 23 and have yet to claim my centrelink PPL, the website says it should be “claimed within 52 weeks of child’s birth” but in another section “first 20 weeks after birth of child”, is anyone in the same boat and can you confirm which is it? Thanks

You must claim within 52 weeks from birth of your baby!
I applied 4 months before due date (due date was 3rd August 23 but had baby on 14th August 23) and was all put through 2 months later, however Centrelink are really behind with any kind of payments and it’s taking up to 6 months to receive any ppl payments. I called at the end of August and told them I was in financial hardship and needed my payments fast tracked and I had them started by the next week.

Well I had my baby on the same day as you :) I applied before she was born, was rejected for stupid wording on a letter, still waiting to hear about the appeal.
But yes 52 weeks. Though expect a long wait to hear anything.
thanks!!!
twins!! And can’t believe they will reject such a claim?!?!

I heard that you need to apply within 52 weeks, but if Bub turns 1 before the claim is processed, they won't pay you anyway.
I'm going to put through the claim in march. Work is paying me till June, so figure it should be worked out by then
