5 month old feeding every 2 hours

I have been told by the health visitor that my baby is feeding too often, she has up to 6oz every 2 hours and I need to try and stretch it to 3. Any ideas on how I can get her to go an extra hour? She will grunt reaaaaly loud at me when she is hungry and there is no distracting her as after a while she will then scream at me! I don't know what to do 😢

She is 5 months on Thursday and weighs 18lbs 2oz, photo of my little chunky monkey

Obviously I’m not a health visitor but maybe she’s just hungry?

My baby is 4 & 1/2 months and feeds every 2 hours unless she's napping or we are out and about as she sleeps in her pram. I did wonder if I'm feeding her to much but she is hungry and she pushes the bottle away when she has had enough so I just follow her lead. She does also sleep through the night so I guess she wants to fill herself up during the day! I don't even hear my HV lol.

Maybe up the oz to stretch it out?

Whats her reasoning for her going 3 hours? Xx

She suffers with reflux, so they said that the amount of milk she has a day isn't helping her sickness, but I have starting adding thickener to it and she still drinks 6oz every 2 hours, with no sickness. The health visitor said that I need to stretch it to 3 hours as she is feeding way too much in a short space of time 😢

My LO is on 5, 7oz bottles a day, as soon as I upped it he was so much better!

My almost 5 month old still feeds every hour on average. No ideal if that's "right" or not but he's hungry so I feed him!

Have you started weening her yet? PurĆ©es baby rice ect? My little one is 5 month on Friday and he’s weighing 20lbs we give him a banana porridge on a morning with 4oz of milk then throughout the day feed him purĆ©es along side his bottle (5oz) and then on a evening feed him baby rice 4 oz with his bottle along side, I don’t know if a baby having reflux affects the way the weening process works for them, however he is still waking on a night time every 2-2.5 hours for a feed as we’re in our sleep regression stage , I don’t know if any of that would of helped you or if you have already tried x

If she's drinking it then leave her be. HV will always tell you the most current advice which is fine, but they have to tell you even if they don't agree with it.
How long does she go overnight and how much does she have over 24 hours? My 4.5 month old feeds 4oz bm every 1.5-2 hours in the day. But sleeps through 9pm-7am

My baby is nearly 5 months and has only just started spacing out feeds to every 3 hours. Before that he was every 1-2 hours too. Health visitors don’t always know best and you know your baby better than them. If she is happy being fed every 2 hours then I don’t see why she should be forced into waiting another hour because of what a health visitor is suggesting unless every 2 hours isn’t working well for you both. My son just seemed to gradually go longer between feeds without me changing anything so it might just be something she will grow out of?

Ask your health visitor how she thinks you should stretch it out? As really it’s all about feeding on demand now. If she is hungry she is hungry you can’t do anything and don’t want to cause her any stress or starve. Maybe suggest to you HV to start weaning? That might fill her up more and spread out the time between feeds xx

She looks lovely & healthy. Gorgeous bubba!

I find it quite annoying how health visitors can assume all baby’s at a certain age need a Specific amount of milk every set amount of hours.

I’m on my second baby and she’s five months and I’m feeding on demand.

Every baby has different needs so I’d continue doing as you are if it’s working x

HVs wind me up, they were no where to be seen when i had my first child in may 2020, but kind of glad i didnt have this unhelpfulness in my life!

Personally I would just feed on command. She could be going through a growth spurt and need it

maybe up the ounce by one, at a time? and stretch that by 30 minutes? but if she doesn’t cry for it after wait for her cue. is she showing interest in food? baby led weaning can be started from 6 months x

Try up her to 7oz every 3 hrs

I had the same issue. Until my sister visited and her and my husband took over a lot of baby entertainment, so u could rest/sleep and all if the sudden my LO managed 3 hours without milk! Your baby knows you have milk and will grunt until she will break you 😃.

Peace of mind please

I shot up at 4am last night and had the urge to check my little boy who sleeps in a cot next to our bed.
For the first time he has rolled over and was sleeping on his stomach, my heart dropped.
I was so scared that I picked him up to make sure he was okay and he was just sound asleep…

What are we supposed to do if they roll over in their sleep?! He’s almost 6 months old and I’m prettified of him rolling and it being a different outcome if I don’t wake up..

Just need some peace of mind that this is
okay?

Baby slept all night

Sorry, I just need to post this... my little boy is 12w5d and he slept through from 9:30-6am, woke for a feed and went back to sleep until 8:30!!! I can't believe it. I was obviously up every few hours checking on him and making sure he was ok, so I didn't get a full nights sleep 🤣 but I'm so pleased for him! šŸŽ‰šŸ„³ (not a brag btw, I'm just so pleased and wanted to share)

Car seat

This car seat says 0-14 months. We bought it when my baby was around 5/6 months when he grew out of the old one and the lady who sold it to us in smyths toy shop said it can be used up until 4 I believe but why does the sticker on it say 0-14 months then? Does anyone e else have this seat the joie 360 spin?

Do any mums who breastfeed and co-sleep — especially once baby doesn’t really need night feeds — ever let their baby cry for a bit in the pram to fall asleep, just so you can have a few minutes to yourself?
A friend suggested this to me, but honestly it breaks my heart. I tried it once and it did work, but I’m not sure I could do it all the time. She’s a childcare teacher and said with sleep training you sometimes let them cry for up to 30 minutes… but I don’t know how people do it.
She also mentioned that a lot of mums here on the Gold Coast, Australia do it during the day when their baby’s tired — letting them fall asleep in the pram so they can have a coffee or catch up with friends without having to rush home for a nap.
I just feel like it might not be good for their nervous system and it doesn’t sit right with me… but then again, I’m also a first-time mum.

moving to cows milk

hi! my boy is one next week and changing to cows milk is really confusing me. he is fed to sleep sith formula three times a day, before his two naps and bedtime. how do i change to cows milk, especially if ideally the cows milk shouldn’t go in a bottle? i just so lost and quite dusted by the whole process. i have a munchkin miracle 360 cup and he can drink through a straw or open cup but before bed seems very disruptive to the routine

Would you consider a baby not talking at the age of 1 a developmental delay?

Based off a recent post, someone said that a child that doesn’t speak at the age of 1 is developmentally delayed.

Do you agree?
