Huckleberry App

Has anyone who's using the huckleberry app noticed if the sweet spot is accurate for there baby's nap times? I'm running out of ideas to try to get Lo to nap longer and more independent she currently fights every nap like hysterically crying until she falls asleep even when she's been held and then only naps for 30 mins then wakes up crying it's getting exhausting I'm not one for the cry it out method its not something I want to try, I've been trying to get a nap time routine read a book and make her room dark etc but she still crys. I'm open to any other ideas? Ty x

I used it and for the first two weeks you get the sweet spots for free without having to pay for upgrade and I did find it helped form a rough guide ☺️ I don’t use it anymore but I aim to stick to 2.5-3 hour wake windows and that seems so work better for us and either a walk to help nap or rocking to sleep but she only naps 30-40 minutes usually unless we’re on a long walk but she’s only ever had short naps ☺️ sticking to wake windows has helped us massively as well as following sleepy cues x

thank you that's really good to know I will download it and see what it predicts her sweet spots are Ive been trying to get her to go around 2.5hrs between naps but she seems to wake up crying like she's still tired but refusing to go back to sleep 😅 ill give the app a go and hopefully it will help thank you 😊 x

Hey, I'm a gentle sleep consultant - aka I don't agree with cry it out! I just want you to be careful with relying on apps! I use apps all the time to help me watch how long my 9-month-old wake windows are but what it calculates his sleep to be, tends to be wrong! The problem with apps is that they work on an algorithm that doesn't take into consideration the individuality of each child. The best thing you can do is know the right wake windows for your babies age and stick to them rather than an app telling you how many naps they should be having xx

An example is my little one is 9 months so he technically needs two naps. Yesterday we had an appointment so he only had 20 minutes for his first nap. His second nap was 3 hours later and finished at 2ish. The app then told me to give him a 5 hour wake window till bedtime at 7. Which would have made my baby so overtired and caused him to wake up many times over night. Instead following wake windows I gave him a little nap of 30 mins in the evening and he went to bed at normal time content. I hope this makes sense! I'm more than happy you help you out! I use it and swear by it!! I pay now as my free trial ran out and it's always been pretty spot on with my little one. The more data you put in, the more accurate the recommended 'sweet spot' will be too xxx

thank you Nina it definitely makes sense each baby is different and the app will just predict her sleep. I look for her signs of tiredness like rubbing her eyes etc which is around the 2hr/2hr30 mark but she still just fights it and then only naps 30 minutes and wakes up crying like she's still tired 🥴 xx

my biggest piece of advice is if your little one only has a short nap (under 1 hour) their next wake windows should be shorter. It sounds like she's overtried - very common signs is short naps and waking up upset like you say. Feel free to send me a message on Instagram if you need more help! Just I tend to miss notifications on here xxx

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m “losing my sh*t.” Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.

Not drinking

I’m going crazy. Baby born at 2.26kg. Slow to put on weight. This last week hasn’t put on any. Been trying to feed him at night and he’s not interested at all. Fast asleep. During day he will have 5 minute gulps and that’s it. He don’t cry for milk. I’ve got to keep offering to him. I try to offer it every hour but I don’t know what I’m doing. HV said nutrition comes after 5 minutes so I should pump first and then give him. I find it so hard. I tried to pump one boob nothing came. The other abit came. Tried giving him express he’s not interested in that too. Sometimes he will go for a longer a feed but not long at all. He’s 4 months and is currently 5.46kg. I have no family or friend support here and wish I had a cook, cleaner and nanny to help with everything so I can concentrate on the little one. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I’m loosing it. It doesn’t help that my also stressed generally about my relationship and life circumstances. Any advice that will work. Any comfort you can give. I’m fed up. Is this regression - not feeding. He’s fast fast asleep. I’ve been trying to push the nipple in but that mouth is closed shut. I took some clothes off. Changed his nappy but he’s still asleep. Please help

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too
