Glucose Test

I’ve got my glucose test tomorrow afternoon. Any suggestions on what I should eat throughout the day since it’s so late. I’ve also read that I shouldn’t exercise before.

it’s at 2 in the afternoon. I’m not planning on fasting all day

I didnt worry about the day before. That doesn’t impact the test. Right before I got the test, I ate 2 scrambled eggs and I passed. No carbs. No sugar!

it’s not the day before I’m worried about, it’s the day of since I’m testing in the afternoon, not the morning

I ate whatever I wanted the day before.. I had mine at 2 in afternoon too! My doc recommended I eat something healthy, like low carb and high protein an hour before and I passed. If you’re healthy, you’re healthy, your body knows what to do. Don’t stress about it too much!

I ate a low carb breakfast and lunch and passed!

Proteins is what my office told me no carbs or sugar. I also recommend the lemon lime drink it wasn’t bad

Lol I was worried about taking my test with the right conditions and kept pushing it off until Monday, I had my appointment and my OB told me I didn’t need to fast but warned if I waited any longer I would need to do a 4 times daily finger prick blood sugar test until baby was born👀 which motivated me to just get it done regardless of what I had eaten or not😂

It’s not about what you eat it’s about how your body processes sugar.

that’s so weird. My midwife had me do the blood sugar testing. It was only 2 times a day for 5 days and is the most accurate way to monitor blood sugar levels. Just in the morning after an 8 hour fast and 2 hours after my largest meal.

well yes, I do understand the science behind it, but with the test so late in the day I want to make sure that I don’t get a false positive.

It is not nearly as bad as everyone says it is!! I got the lemon lime flavor, they just handed it to me I didn't ask but it just tastes like sugar water basically I chugged mine down I was done in two chugs but it's really not as bad as everyone says!! I drank two ensures 3 hours before my test and I passed!! My test was at 11:00 a.m. I recommend just not eating or drinking anything very sugary, so no sodas, and no sugary foods. Make sure you drink lots of water too because they have to draw blood and if I'm dehydrated they're not getting blood out of me so I don't know if you're the same but I do recommend to make sure you're fully hydrated as well!!

I’m like 80% positive she was trying to scare me into taking the test by saying that

Avatar

I would have just asked for the blood sugar monitoring. If you fail the test twice that’s what they do anyway. 5 days of monitoring and it’s more accurate. But I’m sure you weren’t aware of that at the time. It’s definitely a learn as we go process. My midwife refuses to make her moms do the drink because it contains more sugar than we should be in taking in one day in a single sitting and it’s not as accurate.

Avatar

the tests are wrong 30% of the time anyway. But even if you ate a cup of sugar for breakfast you would process that. It’s about how your body processes glucose. Not about what you eat.

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

Anyone else felt like this?

Hi, I’m 4 months postpartum, little one sleeps through the night and is formula fed, the last week I’ve felt extremely tired and very hungry! Just wondered if anyone else has felt this way/experienced this?

Hey what are your current symptoms?

I’m 37+5

I’m pretty mobile still but anything over a hour or 2 and I’m in discomfort

Getting up from a sitting position is hard

Some of baby’s movements now are bordering on painful especially around my crotch/pelvis

I’m exhausted very easily and nap every single day

Can basically only breathe out my mouth now and I’m snoring and dribbling 😂

Standing in one leg is very painful 😂

Some waves of pain/ tightening but I regular and mild

Low period type aches

And I feel like a fire breathing dragon with this acid reflux

My nose is growing 😂

My fingers swell slightly and go numbs in my sleep so that and constant toilet breaks keep me up ( checked swelling with MW and consultant and all normal, not a worry)

I also do not want to be social in person like I’d rather everyone just be my penpal atm lol

What are your symptoms?
