Overfeeding/overeating with bottle?

Baby is 11weeks, ebf during the day but at night time I give her a bottle of expressed milk before bed. She usually takes 5oz, sometimes 6oz. Tonight when I emptied my milk storage bag to her bottle I realised there was 8oz in there. I figured she wouldn’t take this much and would only take 6oz as normal so continued to give the bottle.

I’m very mindful of overfeeding when using a bottle so always make sure to go off her cues, give breaks, let her latch onto the bottle etc, but even with this she surprisingly took near enough 7oz (with burp breaks in between) and was showing cues that she could have finished the bottle. I stopped at 7oz tho cos I’m worried this is too much in one feed for a baby her age to be having?

She’s settled and content now and is dozing off to sleep, but are other babies her age having this amount of milk? Was I right to stop at 7oz? Should I have let her have the full 8oz? FTM here and don’t want to be over or under feeding 😭

My nearly 11 week old is having 7oz at night and 6oz in day. Personally I would give them however much they want. One day my baby took 11oz in one feeding. Sometimes they are just hungry. My HV said try and always have it so there is some left in bottle so you know they are full. If they do overfeed they will just spit it up. I couldn’t worry too much xx

If you’re giving baby expressed breast milk they shouldn’t have more than 5oz at a time as your milk becomes higher in calories and adapts to what your baby needs as your baby grows unlike formula which is why you up the formula amount as your baby grows. Do you pace feed baby with the bottle? You may find this helps baby realise they’re full. Hope this helps xx

oh I didn’t know that! I try and pace feed but when we do our breaks she will sometimes get so upset and will cry until she gets the bottle back. I do a break every 2oz and we burp, if she isn’t crying for the bottle I offer it again but never put it straight in her mouth, I put it to the top of her lip and if she tries latching I give it to her, if she doesn’t I know she’s done. I think I may need to try pace feed more but I’m not sure how to go about it at times where she’s crying for the bottle during breaks

I did this for about first 8 weeks but then he wanted about 4 oz before burping xx

aw is he ebf besides the two bottles? What size test do you use? I’m still using size 1 which she seems to be getting on well with!

He was until around 6 weeks but didn’t want to take to me anymore only bottles. I use size 2 in Tommee teats he doesn’t fall asleep on bottle anymore which is why we upped the teat xx

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!
