What to do if your refuses to sit on toilet seat

Hi What do you do If your child refuses to sit on toilet seat? My son is 22months old. I tell him that it seems like you need to pee so let's go to toilet. We walk to the toilet. He likes the flushing part but I tell him that we need to pee or poo first before flashing. The toilet seat has a step attached as well (it is a bit wobbly). He won't step on n sit on seat. N when I try to help to step n sit on seat He would say no. Maybe I need to take a break for a few weeks n start again? Atm I am not pushing him in to a full on potty training. He tells me himself at times that mama toilet and wants to go there. Maybe I need to get a different seat. Some say that the attached toddler seat is better and some say to tarat with a smaller seat attachment. But I want a sturdy one. Or maybe my son can go n choose one himself. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you. 😊

Maybe try one of the pottys that just goes on the floor to start with

I like the floor potty’s to start because they get them in a deeper squat (ie. knees above hips) so it’s a more natural position. Wobbly steps and seats are definitely something that can make them afraid of the toilet, so best avoid. You could try getting him to sit on a floor potty a few times with clothes on. Then get a teddy to do a wee on the potty. Then slowly progress.
