Jobs with young children

What jobs do people have when they have young kids?
My son will start school next year and I’ll have a 1 year old by then too.
I currently work 3 days a week mainly so I have time with my son and nursery fees are a killer. After my maternity leave I’d ideally like a different job as the one I have now is very lonely. But what does everyone do with their kids outside of school hours? Afterschool clubs?
Be interesting to see how everyone juggles it.
Unfortunately it all falls me on as I have no family who can help as they are at work. Husband works 7-5 everyday too😩

I literally have this question too. Nursery is actually way more flexible than school will be when my daughter starts in September. I’m already wondering what I am going to do about all the school holidays and 3.15 finishes. My work would like me to do more, and I could right now because of nursery hours but I can’t commit to it because come September I’m screwed! Sorry I don’t have any advice, my husband works similar hours to yours so it’s all on me too.

Following. My son is now 1 and I'm due back at work start of march but I'm dreading going back and was ready to quit before getting pregnant but never found an alternative. Partner leaves at 8am and isn't home till 10pm 7 days a week so also just me (he helps his dad on their family farm, just the 2 of them, livestock so animals need feeding and looking after daily)

Thanks for your replies!
I do find it hard finding part time roles that are paid decently?
I feel I’m so stuck as I have a part time job now which is paid fairly well but I’m just so lonely working from home and crave the social side which I will never get where I am now. So if I left I’ll most likely be more out of pocket but happier. I just find it all overwhelming. Most jobs I see are full time which I just couldn’t do. Maybe asking if places would consider part time? I don’t know 😩

Going back to work!

Already thinking about this! Told my boss I was pregnant this week at 10 weeks, he was so happy for me. He’s recently became a first time Dad and was showing me pictures of his baby. I told him my plans about going back after 6 months and he looked at me like I was mad, am I!? I absolutely love my job and cannot imagine giving it up, I manage a team and am petrified my position won’t be there if I had a year off. My husband gets 6 months full pay so the plan would be for him to have the last 6 months off and I also made it clear to my boss that I would like to go part time. That way we can hopefully parent together 4/7 days rather than just the weekend! I am such an overthinking! 🤣 but this is what I’m struggling with the most, I’ve worked full time since I was 17 (12 years ago) and the max time I’ve had off in one go is 2 weeks when I got married. I’m sooo excited to be a Mum and we decided now was the right time, which it 100% is! But I feel so on edge about not working! I’m sure once I’m on maternity leave I won’t even think about work! Has anyone else felt the same?

What are we giving our soon-to-be 3yo for their birthdays?

We have the magnetiles, we have the kinetic sand and play doh, we have the play kitchen…

Literally, is there anything left in the world to buy this spoilt kid? 😅

Baby groups?

Hello there!!
I hope you enjoying the 5month babies 🫠 the cuteness outweighs everything over here.
We live in the area of Croydon & need to start going to baby groups ( I NEED it more than him though) but I am a little bit clueless. Any recommendations?
We are happy to travel a bit too.
Thanks ☺️

Is it just me?

I’m 35. I have a 21 month old and i’m 5 months pregnant. I have no friends. Everyone has either drifted away or ghosted me. I don’t know what i’ve done but i’m so lonely now. My best friend of 20 years has ghosted me and i’m heartbroken. I’ve tried to reach out to other friends but never get anywhere. I don’t know how to make new friends. I honestly just feel so alone.
