Hi everyone, please can someone help as I'm sooo confused on what to do??
I'm currently employed and have been for almost a year so I know I'll be entitled to SMP, however I'm thinking about resigning as the job is 37 hours and it's all becoming too stressful for me. I'm an agency worker so they won't cut my hours and won't help me in any way.
If I were to quit and get a part time job somewhere else for a couple of months, would I no longer be entitled to SMP and just maternity allowance??
I don't understand the difference between the two and how much money I'd lose :( please help!!

Can you just get signed off sick instead? I called my gp to ask them for a note saying i can’t go into London for work and work related events and they wanted to sign me off for 3 months!

All employers have a legal responsibility to provide support to any pregnant employee including a risk assessment. May be worth a call to ACAS to see if they can offer any advice on what you can and can’t request and they may also be able to advice on maternity allowance etc xx

I agree with on this too. It doesn’t affect your SMP if you have been claiming statutory sick pay. It’s something like £109 a week though, so not the best
