Measuring ahead

Hi ladies, I wonder if anyone can help… so my last period was 16th December. I have short cycles and they are usually 25/26 days long. I’ve had an early scan and measuring at 8 weeks 5 days today. I should really be 8 weeks 1 day. Does this mean I’ve ovulated pretty early in my cycle?

Depending on why you say you should be 8 weeks 1 day (did the app say that? App’s algorithm can be wrong) I’d go with dr and from what I’ve read on here they might tell you you’re behind and put you back by 4 days at some future ultrasound appointment too. Point is you’re 8 weeks and not measuring at like 5 weeks or something so time to celebrate that the embryo is developing at a right pace!!

They tell you to count from the first day of LMP, counting from that I should be 8 weeks 1 day. But measuring at 8 weeks 5 days which is why I was asking as I’m a bit confused. I normally ovulate around day 11/12 so I was wondering if this is why I’m showing “ahead”

Yes, earlier ovulation means you would of likely conceived earlier and therefore implanted earlier. I ovulate late so am always a few days ‘behind’ my estimated date. Once you have your 12 week dating scan, they will measure your baby and your new due date will be calculated from that!

When I went for my scan at the EPU the doctor told me they’re working with millimetres of error rates too so that’s why they do the dating scan at 12 weeks when they can be more accurate

Thank you ladies ☺️

Early ovulation very common, I would be 7+3 from my Flo app but had a scan today and measure 7+5 with everything perfect 🥺

After last baby my cycles have been shorter too, like 25 days on average and I normally ovulate around 11-12 days as well. They put me at 3 days ahead so I've been wondering the same thing as you. I'm honestly waiting for the 12 week scan before I take the due date seriously but I assume shorter cycles would mean we're further ahead as it's a 25 day cycle instead of the average 28 days.

Ah it’s good to know other people are in this situation too. It’s all very confusing 🤣 x
