Christening without dad’s knowledge.

My partners ex has got their child christened without his knowledge. There was conversations before and she point blank refused that he wasn’t. He’s found out through friends that he has in fact been christened. My partner would have loved to attend that and put differences aside for his child. I have read they don’t need consent. But where does he even stand with this. It’s so unfair he’s missed out on a big part of his child’s life.

Do you really not need consent for christening?! I'm not a majorly religious person but isn't a christening essentially choosing a faith for your child? Like I'd have thought something like that you'd need the agreement of the other parent with PR. It's a huge life decision! Xxx

Not doubting you btw just in shock. Shit for your fella too xxx

Avatar

no apparently you don’t. Yes it’s a big part in his child’s life. It is just shit cause he would have loved to have been there and now
Missed out on that opportunity. Sad really. And to go behind his back and then lie when he asked about it. Just sad xx

Aww thats sad. I mean I don't think you can get a child christened twice (again no one attack me I'm completely oblivious to things🤣) but could you throw your own christening party? I mean sad he missed out on the actual ceremony and I know it won't make up for it. But what's done is done and there's never a good excuse not to have a party!! With his side and all your family and friends :) xxx

I wouldn’t have thought so either.

Yeah that actually sounds like a good idea! Thank you xx

This shit pisses me off
Everyone with PR has the responsibility to make choices on things such as health, education and religion and the fact she’s done that behind his back is horrific!! And actually there 100000% should be something he can do about that (even if there isn’t there defo should be)

If you’re religious, I’d speak to the church and explain the situation they may do a blessing or similar :( but ultimately it’s such a shit situation!

Avatar

so frustrating isn’t it. That’s the worst part going behind his back and when he asked before she point blank refused and said his child was lying 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

They’re not really religious. He’s just upset cause it is a big event for a child. I guess it just shows how low some people can be 🤷🏼‍♀️ he should have been told. It’s his child too. And is present in his child’s life xx

Avatar

That’s so tight that she accused the kid of lying!?

Ultimately, the child will see for themselves in years to come what mum was like :(
If there’s a court order in place it may be worth looking at a prohibited steps to stop her making big decisions like this without his involvement - idk if it would be considered but always worth considering x

Avatar

I know. So bad isn’t it.

Yes I agree! There is a court order in place. We looked at it but it doesn’t say anything however he’s looking at taking it back to court to say that big events the dad needs to either have the opportunity to be part of or informed. Even things like how they’re doing at school. Any hospital appointments etc. we have a friend in a similar situation and even tho there’s a court order. Professionals refuse to give him any info. But yes I do agree it needs to be looked at xx

Are you religious? You can do your own ceremony dedicating the child to Christianity. Which means you will raise him/her in Christ and do your own celebration ?

This is horrible!! Even if your not massively religious a christening is a huge social event for the child and the photos last a lifetime.
The BM robbed your partner of a big milestone for his child.
Some BM are so selfish on the dads it's horrendous.

I've heard of baby naming days for people who are not religious as a way of gathering family and friends together. Would be a great way to get everyone together and get some photos for yourselves!

It's crazy, I know I don't know your situation financially and things, but if you had known and been invited, you could of possibly helped pay towards it as well. So it all just sounds very spiteful. The poor child would probably love looking back on photos later in life and you all being there. Such a selfish thing to do 💔

Avatar

yes exactly. This is the point. It is such a big event that he should have been informed of at the least.

Yes I agree. We definitely would have paid towards this. It’s for his child at the end of the day. Some people just go out their way to spite their exes when it actually boils down to spiting their own child.

Yes we have spoken about doing our party to celebrate xx
