Cramlington hospital birth

Does anyone have any experience with the birth facilities at Cramlington?
I’m in the catchment zone for there and RVI but can’t decide between the two.

I went with Cramlington purely because my partner could stay too and I got my own room and en suite with toilet sink and shower. I was in a week and he could stay the entire time, and you get a free telly too. Also they were great when I was really poorly xx

I personally would prefer cramlington, just because you get your own room after, whereas I believe the postpartum bit in the RVI is shared x

Out of both my births one at cramlington was best experience, definitely would recommend xx

I had my baby at cramlington 8 months ago, and although my birth didn’t go to plan, I had the best experience there compared to my first baby down south. Cramlington was amazing start to finish, from labour- delivery and then aftercare, my partner was treated amazing too and our daughter being his first baby they helped him out loads while I was napping etc. couldn’t recommend enough.

We had a great experience. Midwives were lovely and supportive. Having your own room with en suite is a definite help too!

Love cramlington, was amazing only issue I had and aware other women had was anasthecists not being able to get the needle in my back for epidural - I also know of women that had no issues however took an hour to try get mine in and couldn’t but other than that was amazing xx

Thanks everyone! It’s great to hear so many positive experiences xx

Cramlington was amazing, you get your own room which means partner can stay over if needs be

Cramlington is a fantastic hospital. Private rooms both on labour ward and post natal ward. Had my 2 sons there and I’ve worked there on placement, fantastic place x

Very positive experience , birthing room had a nice big hot tub if you want water birth. The ward after private room , partner can stay and they dont rush you home.

I’ve been to RVI and Cramlington and would definitely say cramlington. You get your own private room after labour and your partner gets their own bed whereas RVI they can only come at visiting times and you’re sharing a ward with other women x

Got my c-section at Cramlington this Thursday so this is really reassuring to read 🥹

I'm glad I moved to Northumberland when I was pregnant. I was so nervous about giving birth in a strange hospital, but it was the best birth experience I could have asked for. I expected to be on a ward with others but you get a private suite in the birthing unit and maternity unit x

Cramlington were great I got help breastfeeding and they wouldn’t leave me alone checking my blood pressure and baby all night although I got no sleep they kept a close eye on me

Avatar

I had this also, I was unsure how to breast feed and couldn’t get milk out till one of the nurses helped physically assist me because I couldn’t do it myself and was worried about feeding my daughter xx

Avatar

Sounds great ! Cramlington is quite far for me but the facilities sounds so much better 😭

Avatar

I went to the RVI & wish I’d went to Cramlington x

Avatar

@Amy I forgot about the blood pressure checks, and they also checked on my daughter every time they came in x

I’ve had the worst experiences with RVI. The birthing centre was lovely but the wards were awful. Wish I’d known about cramlington it sounds amazing

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃
