Over feeding my baby?

If he's hungry, feed him. If he's waking every 2 hours, it definitely seems like what you're giving him isn't enough for him.

Also... have you learned about infant hunger cues? If not, I would look into them. If he's still cueing at the end of the 4 ounces, he definitely needs more. Otherwise, the screaming may be related to some other issue.

Our little boy is 3 weeks old tomorrow and also drinking 4oz feeds, we were told by our midwife that if he wants it give it, if he is puking it back up then it might be too much but if he's tolerating it then he obviously needs and wants it :) hope that helps

We also struggled with latching, i would breastfeed for over an hour and he was still crying for a feed so one day i gave him a bottle and made 7oz just to make sure there was enough in there and it could give me an idea of how much he was taking.. At 4 weeks my little one was downing 7oz bottles! We are back to combi feeding now at 6 weeks as his latch is better and my milk is catching up..
If he's cueing that he's hungry then feed him, although saying that mine sometimes cues he's still hungry, I give him more bottle and then he spits up.. don't know if that's because I've given in to the dummy and he's sucking his fingers because he's used to sucking on a dummy for comfort... now he's 6 weeks I have learnt to define his cries better between hungry and tired..
One thing I found good was giving him a break a few times during the feed to burp him but also to let the milk settle (when I eat really fast I cam overeat and then feel sick, I only assume its the same for babies)

Normally he’s been fine with the 4oz and not showing any signs of wanting more, but yesterday and today he’s been suckling on my arm and trying to go for my boob or my mums if she’s been with him and crying for more, I just don’t want to overfeed him too early, I’m a huge worrier that’s all😭 and the screaming is just one of his cues, when I was still in hospital with him the midwife who was discharging me was like “keep an eye on screams” but while he was in hospital he was the same, screaming when he was hungry but they checked him over and said he was fine just hungry thankfully

I’d been preparing 4oz since before the midwife discharged us because half the time he’d be hungry after 3oz and my midwife said I was doing the right thing so I’m hoping I’m okay to up it to 5oz so soon, I saw a post in another group where people were saying they fed their child 4oz until 2 months and it’s sent me into a panic now that’s all😭 thank you!!

That’s so reassuring that it’s not just my little one who’s so hungry all the time, I’m hoping if he’s eating a lil more he’ll sleep a little longer so I can catch up on sleep!! He keeps cluster feeding every couple of days where he seems like a funnel and that worries me but I’m hoping I’m doing the right thing and not overdoing it x

Mine is the same! He will even cluster feed on his bottle; have a couple ounces then be fine for 30mins then want it again etc. I would still speak to your health visitor just to make sure and see if they have any other suggestions 😊

Probably a growth spurt where they need more and the 2 hour feeds sounds like they are trying to cue you to feed more. Babies will do this naturally at the breast to get mamas supply to increase. I would do more, if baby spits up after I would think probably a gas issue/colic. Many babies will feed in excess when in pain with their tummy thinking it will help but it can make it worse. So try and feed more, if baby spits up I’d see a dr for their recommendations
