I’m an infectious diseases scientist - anyone who isn’t for immunisation is actually insane.

can you shed a little light on why you believe they are important

We need to stop judging mamas if they vax or not vax.
Mothers that don’t vax do their research about what is going into our babies bodies

I really like this podcast episode on vaccines: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-26-vaccines-part-1-lets-hear-it-for-maurice/id1299915173?i=1000438053360
Especially the first few minutes where they give a first-hand account of pre vaccine days.

while I agree mums get way too much judgement for many things, vaccines are a bit different because it can affect your child negativity if they come into contact with an unvaccinated child.
Vaccines work best if you have very high uptake. And especially things like measles are really really bad for kids. It wipes out your immune system's memory of other infections you've had before.

We will follow the vaccination schedule

Depends on the vaccination

Strongly for, have seen some devastating consequences of people not vaccinating their kids because of ‘things they’ve read online’.

100% for! Don’t see why it should be a question on wether we should keep our children safe or not because of ‘things they’ve read online’ we all know not everything on the internet isn’t real🤷🏼♀️ putting your child’s health at risk for some hearsay is absurd

couldn’t agree with you more!

For… the science is there.

agreed. We learnt a lot about herd immunity during covid and how important it is to protect vulnerable members of society and it prevents diseases from spreading rapidly and potentially mutating, but sometimes people don’t seem to equate this with childhood vaccines as well x

We haven't done any and not planning to

Pro vaccination. I trust science. Doing your own research using the internet is dangerous because the internet is full of charlatans trying to make money off views, anti vax propaganda and ill informed non specialists.

partner is a doctor and we are pro the necessary vaccines

My 12 yr old got all of the vaccines recommended and followed the schedule from birth. She now has asthma, had a terrible skin condition that no dr could figure out (it made her face bleed) , now has terrible allergies, terrible car sickness, vomits with every sickness she gets.. and seems to ALWAYS be sick. When she gets sick she’s down for weeks. It’s like her immune system is garbage.
Now my 2 yr old has only received the necessary vaccines for school. She does not follow the schedule and receives 1 vaccine at a time. As long as she has the required for kindergarten we are ok.
My toddler is never sick. Has no allergies. No asthma, no eczema , and she kicks ASS when it comes to sicknesses.
For example my 12 yr old brought home the stomach flu from school. She was throwing up for days, couldn’t eat for a week and had a fever for days.
My 2 yr old caught it, threw up once. Fever for one day and now she’s normal.

Out of interest, those who are against, what is the rationale?

Hi
My comment wasn’t up for debate. Or to argue with someone I don’t know on the internet. I just shared my experience. You perceived it as an attempt to argue against your beliefs and respond to me, but that just wasn’t the case. Idc what your beliefs are or what your opinion is on vaccines. it adds nothing to my life-
I also never stated I was against vaccines, especially since both my kids ARE vaccinated..

There’s Science then there’s a billion pound pharmaceutical company profiting off scaremongering and ignorance from people. They profit from the vaccines, then when healthy people get health problems and need medications etc they profit from that too.

When did your 2 year old receive his vaccines and which ones? I had Never thought about spacing out the vaccines which actually makes sense, just not sure how to get my GP to agree to this

Not trying to mom shame here, it’s just that I don’t know how else to phrase this, but for those who are against, noticing the uptick in cases of things like measles, especially for babies who are too young to be vaccinated, how do you feel no responsibility or guilt for spreading around potentially life threatening illness when there’s an available solution?
Even if your kid is fine, that doesn’t mean your kid isn’t giving it to someone else’s baby, so why do you feel that it’s rational or acceptable?

as you're UK based, NHS can space them out, it's completely your choice, but GP will likely ask why (if you counter ask why not, they usually say, this is how we do it, personal experience). They don't do single shots though - 6in1 is 6 shots in 1, can't go 6 different times one at a time. However there is a clinic in London, where you can have it done that way, however it's private, so you have to pay (baby jabs)

I’ve always found that when you follow the money you’ll find your answers.

agreed. And if I noticed anything through Covid and vaccine rollouts is that shame and divide has always been the name of the game. I remember when I was a kid and somebody had chickenpox. All the parents would send all the kids to that person‘s house so that we could all get it and have heard immunity. I was one of the kids that had a chickenpox party and we were all better off this way. Get dirty, get micro introductions, to bacteria and viruses in natural forms, and build your own immunity - this goes for babies, children and adults. Also, the way you live your life and what you stick in and on your body, plays a huge factor and how we are going to be affected. If you live out McDonald’s and junk food guaranteed you’re not gonna have a very good run-in with any bacteria or virus. Whereas if you are a whole food type of person who likes to stay hydrated and treat your body like the temple It deserves to be treated as, any run-in with any bacterial virus is not going to have

The same effect. Western medicine is a bit of a joke in my opinion unless you have a broken bone. I reCovered from a devastating brain virus when I was 21. I was not supposed to live nor was I supposed to fully recovered. When I didn’t die, doctors said that I would be a quadriplegic for the rest of my life then when I started moving my arms and feet, they were like oh she’ll be a paraplegic and then when I started walking, they were like OK well your guess is as good as ours. My mother was the one who advocated for all of my healthcare, and insisted on natural supplements that were brain food that I would ingest through an abdominal feeding tube that she would crush up and feed me because the doctors thought that it was a joke. Well, the jokes on them because I’m fully recovered not with any of their help.

babies are on a schedule and can’t get them all at once. They aren’t able to get their first measles shot until six months which means they are vulnerable until at least then.
So I have at least six months of worrying about your unvaccinated kid giving it to mine.
You also didn’t answer my question whatsoever.
Do you feel nothing about potentially exposing babies to a deathly illness?

do you know what’s in vaccines? Like at all? Do you know how common measles is? Or how you even get it? I also do not believe the vaccines work, there are plenty of statistics to prove it. And even the vaccines that “reduce” diseases. Still have risk of giving your baby cancer as they have never been tested. Also majority say “risk of SIDS” “risk of getting disease anyways.” They also have never done tests compacting vaccinated children to unvaccinated children. Because they don’t want us to stop giving them money. It’s all a big money pool.

And to be frank, any intervention from the hospital during my 10 month stay, only delayed my process going forward. They wanted to sedate me because they didn’t want to have to deal with me. Every time they sedated me they reset the neurological progress that I was making. My recovery didn’t start to happen until I left that goddamn place. 2 1/2 years later in my mother‘s care and through tiring physical rehabilitation and physiotherapy from third-party institutions, and a mother’s loved to see her daughter persevere, and I’m here today because of that. I will always advocate for the best for my children, as did my mother and her mother and so on and so on. It is my choice on whether or not I vaccinate my children, and I choose not to. And if you choose to vaccinate your children, that is with love and affection and advocating for the best care for your children with the information that you choose to believe in. It is personal preference #donttreadonme

girl where are you getting your info?
The CDC says vaccines are not shown to cause SIDS at all.
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/sids.html

my point is that measles doesn’t even need to exist anymore, but here we are dealing with it unnecessarily because people are saying things like “I also do not believe the vaccines work” despite the countless evidence to the contrary.
You’re going to ask me if I know how common measles is? You didn’t even know that babies aren’t able to get the vax until six months yet here you are telling me “I don’t think they work.”
Okay Dr Karis. 🙄

Here is from Emily oster , she has a book called CRIBSHEET , “When it comes to the vaccine schedule for newborns, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends starting vaccinations at birth. This is because some vaccines, like the hepatitis B vaccine, provide important early protection against serious diseases. However, other countries, like the U.K., may start the hepatitis B vaccine at two to three months unless the baby is at high risk. While there is no one-size-fits-all answer, the key is to follow the recommendations of your healthcare provider and discuss any concerns you may have. Ultimately, the goal is to protect your baby from harmful diseases and give them the best start in life.”
