Hi! I’m 8 months PP and not using any birth control. My cycles have been wonky ever since November when I resumed a period… have seemed to get a period every other month since Nov but haven’t this month yet. When really is the best time to take a preg test? I am pretty sure I found out about my second baby before my period was even due. So just wondering if anyone else waits to test until period window is over…?

I had taken a test when I was technically 4 weeks pregnant and it told me negative 🤷♀️ I think it just depends on your body. I then got a very light period within 3-4 days, then when I didn't get a period at all the following month, I waited another week after I should have had the period. Turned out I was 13 weeks along by then 😂

I had pretty regular cycles once I was off birth control and trying casually.... So it was two weeks after conception had probably happened , that I was suspecting that I might be pregnant because I hadn't had a normal cycle for " that month "

If you've been irregular , but regular about it ( every other month, ), then I definitely get why you are questioning it

It’s so different second time around and when your periods are irregular because you will not be ovulating “as normal”. I’m the same, 8 months pp and irregular periods. Longer cycles = later ovulation = test positive later.
So even if you think your period is due, you could just be a couple of days after ovulation. Hopefully this makes sense 😅
I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd when I was technically 3 days late on my period, but was only 8 days after conception and I was lucky to even get a positive that early. Hope this helps!

this is super helpful to know. We are wanting to start trying in December , when he's 17.5 months old ( he'll be 8 months old tomorrow 🥰)
Wow ladies this is super helpful. Thank you for your advice, I guess we will just see what happens! :)

I was 5 days late on my period I took a test and it was negative lol then I did another test when I was 10 days late and it was positive

I'm having the same issue, negative tests but feeling fatigued, nauseous and just so tired. My first baby I tested negative at 8wks and then positive at 9wks

that’ll be so exciting! I highly encourage you to use ovulation tests if your periods are still irregular 🥰 it worked for us, we conceived on 2nd month trying

when we were trying for him we didn't use ovulation tests at all. I was still regular even being off bc ( IUD). Now I have a higher level one and haven't had a cycle still. Ill want to Definitely see how it goes once I get this one out in October, as far as when my cycle returns once this IUD is gone .

We did the casual trying approach ( still having sex, but no pulling out anymore... And no IUD blockade in place anymore)

yeah I didn’t need anything for my first either, he was a lovely surprise! 🥰 but this time around my periods were so irregular I had no idea when I might be ovulating and I was missing my window 😩 Good luck to you when the time comes! 😊
