Vaginal breech birth

I would say have a chat with your consultant about a vaginal breech. I'm aware of some other things to try to attempt to flip your breech baby, acupuncture at the Leamington clinic offer treatments to try to encourage baby to move, bunkers hill aquanatal group is run by a midwife who has some tips and tricks to help turn baby with some swim techniques. I’m booked in next week to talk to the consultant, my midwife has already warned me they will warn me against one, but it’s not impossible to have one, so I just wanted to hear some other people’s experiences :)

Not had one myself but my mum had me at Warwick and I was breech! It's definitely possible and my mum had me with nothing but gas and air! As long as you're informed of the risks and understand the complications involved then I don't think it should be something completely ruled out 😊 I had my baby at Warwick via C-section last month and can honestly say every midwife on the birthing ward I interacted with was wonderful so I think you'd be in good hands either way! thanks :). I had a really positive birth there with my first, but the aftercare was non-existent (my baby literally wouldn’t feed, but no one would help so he essentially just starved for almost 48 hours 🙃).
So the thought of having a c-section and needed extra support & not getting it really scares me

(To add - most of the midwives were wonderful, I think they were just short staffed when I was in)

I delivered at Warwick, without going into detail we nearly lost my little girl during the delivery and they were all useless because I was admitted to labour ward during a shift handover.
10+ midwives, consultants etc and no one knew what to do. I was a consultant led pregnancy and I’d heard so many wonderful things about Warwick it’s why I booked there, but in my personal opinion they’re good unless there’s a problem.
I had been in 8+ times with high blood pressure and reduced movements and eventually had to beg for an induction and the consultant said they were only offering it ‘because I keep coming in when the baby is fine’ (after I delivered they discovered she’d actually stopped growing and I should have been induced at least 3 weeks before)
I never made it to the induction I naturally went into labour at 38 weeks.
My after care on the ward was disgusting, and I was kept in for 3 days (left to sleep on blood stained sheets)
Honestly, I wouldn’t take the risk with them x

was that a breech birth, or a normal vaginal birth with added complications?

I gave birth to my first in the bluebell centre, so got one on one care for most of my labour (until it came to pushing, then my midwife disappeared for half an hour 🙃).

Funny you mention about baby not growing, when the midwife took my fundal height the other day she said ‘oh I’ve rounded it up, otherwise it looks like baby’s not grown’, it only occurred to me afterwards that what if baby HAS stopped growing 🤦🏼‍♀️.

My aftercare was also horrendous, I ended up discharging myself after 2 days because they hadn’t fed me and weren’t helping my baby either.

But you’re right - based on those things, it’s probably not worth the risk with them! Fingers crossed this baby turns 😬

Normal birth with complications - I basically went from 4cm to 10cm in 35 minutes and there was no fetal heartbeat.
They were going to send me away as they didn’t think I was in labour, I’d have delivered in the car park 😂

My community midwife had me measuring at 33 weeks from 33weeks to birth and I’d mentioned it to my consultant twice and he said ‘community midwives only take that measurement to feel important, we don’t use it’

My mums been a midwife for 30+ years and was mortified at the care there.

My LO was breach up to 39 weeks (was told at 38 weeks there was basically no chance of him moving) he did move but they failed to see on the scans that he was back to back so was rushed for theatre after about 14 hours in labour and my LO flat lining a few times so was rushed for emergency c-section. Every labour/birth is different and everyone has different experiences but at Warwick I found that the labour team and surgical team were amazing however the post birth care I had a very similar situation at you stevie, left on bloody sheets, catheter not being emptied, told that baby’s latch wasn’t right and then kept being promised I was going to be given help but no one did, sent away with only the red book and was told if I had any questions to watch there 20 minute YouTube video, it was awful, infact if it wasn’t for the surgical team coming in to check on me I would’ve had a much worse experience, they made sure I had something to eat after no one giving me any at the ward etc xx

I’m so surprised how poor the postnatal care is! I assumed my care was bad because my birth was relatively straight forward, and those that had more complicated deliveries were getting better care :(.

I spoke to my midwife today and said I was really concerned about the after care this time round and she just said ‘oh we were probably short staffed’ 😩🙄

It’s awful, when I spoke to the health visitor her response was “everyone says that about postnatal care” and I was like for first time mums that’s probably the most important department because, your nakered, your recovering and you’ve got a human to look after that your not entirely sure what to do with. I did ask her to put my comments forward but who knows x

Hey all 🙂 due to have an elective c sec at Warwick soon. Is there any advice for me and hubby that we can sort/organise? Midwives have been shite I have absolutely no faith in them AT ALL!!! hope you and babies are doing well xx

The Labour/surgery team were absolutely amazing. The procedure went amazing, everyone was so caring, one of the surgeons was a bit off but other than that everyone was lovely! After care is shocking, make sure they are changing your bed sheets and catheter bag regularly. I wouldn’t advise for hubby to stay over night as I ended up sending mine home at 2am because it was just so loud & as much as they tell you to look after your partner in your maternity appointments, the after care don’t give a toss haha. Ours was emergency c-section but everyone I saw once I got to the Labour ward till after my surgery were amazing just don’t expect much from aftercare, hopefully it was just the staff we had weren’t the best and you have a much better experience! Good luck on your arrival of your little one! Don’t worry about anything about the procedure, I have no concerns of having a c-section again xxx
