Farley rusks

Hi ladies, my baby had a really severe reaction to Kendamil a month ago and was diagnosed with CMPA. He’s 5 and a half months old and was recommended to start weaning now. He’s been having a few spoons of porridge everyday for the last week, I was wanting to introduce something else now and I got some Farley rusks to mix with my breast milk for a little change for him. Just wondering if any other mums have given little ones Farley rusks and they’ve been okay with them.. As it says on the packaging it’s not made with milk but may contain milk due to being made in a factory that handles milk? Thank you 😊

Following as I’d be interested in that as little on has cmpa too… we think. Have you swapped formula too? Looking for porridge/breakfast foods… started with veg at lunch but will start a small breakfasts too in a month or so

They got a lot of sugar in for very young baby. Personally I’d start with veg purée / veg sticks if they meet signs of readiness.

He absolutely loves his porridge but I’m wanting to slowly introduce new foods when I know he’s reacting okay to current food as his reaction was delayed (5 days after starting Kendamil) and worried he could have other allergies! I’m wanting to make all his foods myself as I have Crohn’s disease and it’s always been a worry for me it could have been passed down! He gets neocate now which is prescribed by the dietician at the hospital. I got these jars to try him out on the other day as they’re organic and just pure fruit, suitable for vegans and vegetarians.. I’ll post a photo :)

What porridge do you use as I've noticed most of them contain milk
As for the rusks my little girl had a very severe reaction to cmp and on neocate but I've seen people say that it's not law to suggest it might contain milk in any product so anything could contain it and not say
You could find you could end up with a bad batch containing cmp but it's a risk you'll have to take otherwise baby won't be able to have much at all unfortunately

And as for porridge, all baby cereals I found in supermarkets either contained milk/milk powder or could have traces. So I bought Quaker rolled oats as it’s suitable for vegans and 100% wholegrain oats. I blitz it to a fine powder form and mix it with about a ounce of breast milk lightly heat in a pan before it gets too thick

Oh I might give them a go! What porridge do you use?
We have used hipp organic baby rice… I know lots say no nutrients in it but it’s good to find safe foods with a baby with allergies, and for our boy he’s not overly keen on bottles so it’s another way to get some milk in him

Like Emma-Louise said there's always going to be a slim chance with may contain. We haven't had an issue with them at the moment, and they do reduced sugar ones.
We buy normal own brand porridge oats and add chia seeds for breakfast, my LO also likes weetabix, and we make pancakes as well with just banana, flour and soya milk - those are his all time faves! x

I use the boxed Quaker rolled oats with blue background on the box. Dietician reccomended Hipp organic rice but none of my supermarkets stocked it. I’d definitely try with the oats if you can. Ella’s kitchen are also a good brand too, they do good purée pouches that are just fruit and veggies which you can always had a small amount in porridge to make flavoured, good tip I got from someone in the group :)

Popping to shops in a bit so will have a good look, thank you! I assume you add neocate to porridge?

Avatar

if it was for myself I wouldn’t be bothered but with his reaction being so severe I don’t know wether to risk it🥺, I did buy reduced sugar though! Awww the pancakes sound amazing, I’ll definitely have to try those out with my little one, thank you for your advice! X

Avatar

no worries, hope you manage to get some :). The dietician reccomended to not add Neocate as it’s quite a strange tasting formula, I’ve not tried it myself but it smells like iron! I still breast feed and just top him up with neocate so I’m lucky enough to be able to make his foods with breast milk

My son has seizures from his cmpa and was fine having little bits of rusks and then he started reacting turns out it wasnt any milk in them it was the gluten in them as he has a gluten allergy. He was a bit delayed in showing symptoms for the gluten so the whole week he had rusks he was fine and then the next week symptoms started but I also introduced toast and wheetabix that same week so it definitely wasn't the may contain milk that caused a reaction for him.

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
