Harder stools

So my 6 month old has started to have harder stools. Sometimes it hurts her other times it doesn’t but it’s more of a turd instead of runny poop. I talked to her pediatrician and she said not giving her purées and see if that’s the issue but her having a hard time pooping bad is more when she has too much baby food. A little doesn’t hurt her but I was wondering if that’s kinda normal. I hate seeing her hurt to poop but I know things change with baby but wasn’t sure if more hard stool is normal

I've noticed with mine if I give her to many veggies or grains this happens, I try to give her more fruits because of it, from what I've read a lot of fruits are natural softners. I would do research on that and see if it would help you.

We just started solids this weekend and she had a pretty solid poop today, and it was her first poop in 3 days. Seemed like she was in pain last night and the night before from not being able to go. I figured it’s probably just a normal adjustment when incorporating solids

Make sure baby is getting extra water to accommodate the solids!

she drinks normal bottles so she gets water but the pediatrician said I can after 6 months give her water to chase the food I give her.

I’ve only really given fruits other than sweet potatoes. Someone living with us gave her some and she has issues after being given like a lot of baby food at a time

yes I was assuming baby was 6 months 😅

Our pediatrician told us an ounce of water a day

This can happen when solids get introduced and certain foods like bananas can make it worse. I found adding baby probiotic drops and/or probiotic yogurt (get whole milk, full fat, unsweetened since it is for a baby - I really like Stonyfield Organic’a as it’s one of the cheapest I’ve been able to find easily and regularly which meets all the criteria) helps a lot.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.
