Is it wrong if I cancel?

My LO is 17 weeks and has been EBF from birth.
He is supposed to be staying at my mums tonight (which I feel fine with as he has already done this a few times) as me & my partner are going for a few drinks with my best friend to meet her new boyfriend.

We’ve had this date booked in for a few weeks now but on Monday I came on my first period since having LO and it has seriously affected my milk supply. I’ve had enough to feed LO but barely anything left to pump.

I only have about 4oz pumped in the fridge and don’t think I will get much more before we are supposed to be going out at 7pm this evening. This isn’t going to be enough for LO through the night, so now I feel stuck as I personally don’t want him to have formula as I’ve worked so hard to only give him breast since birth, but I also don’t want to cancel plans which we’ve had booked in for over a month. My best friends BF also lives 2 hours away so it can’t be easily rearranged either.

What shall I do? Feel so stuck!

Not ideal but I guess one option might be that they come to you and you have a take away/drinks at yours? That way you still get to meet up and be available to BF your baby too.

Idea: Could you change it to a casual early meal somewhere child friendly?
Plans change with children all the time and you probably won’t relax. Also sounds like you’ve not tried formula yet so he might not take it.

Could your mum not look after your baby at your house just for few hours and then u could bf before going out and if baby needs that 4oz would be enough until u get back?

It might be too late to make it work for tonight, but have you tried power pumping? That will tell your body that you need to produce more milk.

we were thinking suggesting this. I just feel bad as she has been texting me excited to show him the nice bars in our area!

they are going for an early dinner with her parents otherwise this would have been a fab idea :(

my mum is my brothers full time carer as he is a wheelchair user. She needs to be at home in case he needs the bathroom or anything as he has to use a hoist staying at mine isn’t an option. My baby also feeds a lot, last time he stayed overnight at my mums he drank 20oz in the space of 10 hours🙈 4oz will last him about an hour!

I haven’t, I’ll give it a go, thank you! My milk supply it usually pretty good, I was able to pump 15-20oz daily (whilst EBF), but since coming on my period I’m struggling. My HV said that this is pretty normal and should go back to normal once my period is done 🤞🏼

Oh my 🙈 yea looks like u would have to cancel or have them come over yours. Plans do tend to change unexpectedly when u have babies/children so I'm sure they will understand

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
