Baby’s age

Hiii , wanna ask this without sounding like the worst mum but my baby was born on the 14th December and counting how many months he is is really confusing me .. I’ve wrote all the dates down starting from his dob , 1 week old,2 week old etc but it’s not right as when he was 1 month old it fell on the 11th January not the 14th?? How does this work ??
A very confused mumma who doesn’t quite understand the age of her baby 😩

So he’s 2 months and two weeks old, 12 weeks and 1 day. Months are from his date so the 14th xx

Avatar

Weeks old and months old are different because theirs longer months and shorter months

Avatar

If he was born on 14th December then he was 1 month on 14th January :)

Avatar

Month to the date.
Weeks by day he was born

Avatar

Because a month has more than 4 weeks 😊 so would be 4 weeks old on the 11th but 1 month on the 14th xx

Avatar

this is where I’m confused as when he was 2 months old it didn’t fall on the 14th ?c

Avatar

I’m the same. I use a baby calculator online. Without that I’d be in the dark lol

Avatar

And when he turned a month it fell on the 11th

Avatar

it’s just not adding up .. where I’ve written all the dates on that bit of paper 4 weeks ( a month ) fell on the 11th not the 14th xx

Avatar

Think of months and weeks totally separately. The months are the same date everytime, so every month on 14th he will be one month older. But months have different numbers of days and weeks. So he will be another week old every Thursday.

Avatar

I thought 4 weeks was a month.. that means I’ve completely been messing up his milestones as I put that he was a month old on the 11th.. but when he turns 12weeks this week it’s gonna fall on the 7th not 14th🤔

Avatar

Omg this was me my LO was born on December 13 I had the same confusion. A month isn't exactly four weeks sometimes it's more/less so the weeks and months don't add up accordingly lol

Avatar

it honestly doesnt matter too much dont stress! GP and HV etc will use weeks and we use it for very young babies but when they are up to 3-4 months most people say it in months, only other parents of young babies will have any concept of weeks!

Avatar

Months vary in length. Each month is not 4 weeks long 🙈

Look at a calendar and you'll see!

Avatar

goddd dunno what’s wrong with my brain hahah , I’ve been adding it up all wrong 🥲

Avatar

glad I’m not the only one, I just feel awful been completely getting his age wrong.. so he’ll be 3 months on the 14th March 🤦🏼‍♀️

Avatar

just feel so awful !! 3 months on the 14th..

Avatar

There's 7 days in a week. 7 days x 4 weeks = 28 days. A month could be 28 days (Feb) / 29 days (Feb on a leap year) / 30 days / 31 days. So no, 4 weeks does not equal to a month.

Every 14th add a month to you child’s age.

Avatar

no one else would even be aware to be honest dont beat yourself up, whats a few days here and there!

Avatar

I bet no one has noticed. Don't worry!

Avatar

If it was weeks your birthday would be different every year, not on the same date you were born. Month to month is by date not number of weeks

Avatar

My girl was born on a Monday so every Monday I just say she's a week older 🤷‍♀️ Probably not correct but makes sense in my little noggin

Avatar

I think that’s exactly what I was doing! Hence why I’m so confused because my boy was born on a Thursday 😂

Avatar

A month old is the 14th of every month he will be a month older. The weeks are different. My baby also born on the 14th, he is 11 weeks and 1 days old. On the 14th March he will be 3 months old

Avatar

thank you ! He’ll be 3 months then on the 14th March

Avatar

Thank you everyone!❤️

Avatar

I was slightly confused cos my baby was also born on 14th December and she’s 11 weeks and 1 day haha! It’s definitely confusing, I’m just rounding up now and saying she’s 3 months cos it’s easier even though she’s like 2 months and 2 weeks🤣x

Avatar

Up to 12 weeks i count in weeks and my LG ticks over every thursday given this was the day she was born. From 12 weeks i count as months and that will be the 30th of every month (bar Feb ofc).

Avatar

My baby was born on the 20th December, a Wednesday. Wednesday just gone she was 10 weeks. She will be 3 months on 20/03, but will then be 13 weeks on that same say.

You do the month age like you would a regular birthday 😊 xx

Edit: not every month has exactly 4 weeks. Plus due to the leap year this year, February has had 5 Thursdays. And March has 5 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Avatar

very confusing hahah I’m still a bit unsure 😂😂xx
So our babies are the same age then🥰 both 11 weeks and one day xx

Avatar

It's so confusing and sleep deprivation doesn't help- my baby was also born 14th December - I keep saying she's 9 weeks to everyone 😂: who knows 😂 xx

Avatar

A month and a week are different things x

Anyone else felt like this?

Hi, I’m 4 months postpartum, little one sleeps through the night and is formula fed, the last week I’ve felt extremely tired and very hungry! Just wondered if anyone else has felt this way/experienced this?

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

Hey what are your current symptoms?

I’m 37+5

I’m pretty mobile still but anything over a hour or 2 and I’m in discomfort

Getting up from a sitting position is hard

Some of baby’s movements now are bordering on painful especially around my crotch/pelvis

I’m exhausted very easily and nap every single day

Can basically only breathe out my mouth now and I’m snoring and dribbling 😂

Standing in one leg is very painful 😂

Some waves of pain/ tightening but I regular and mild

Low period type aches

And I feel like a fire breathing dragon with this acid reflux

My nose is growing 😂

My fingers swell slightly and go numbs in my sleep so that and constant toilet breaks keep me up ( checked swelling with MW and consultant and all normal, not a worry)

I also do not want to be social in person like I’d rather everyone just be my penpal atm lol

What are your symptoms?
