Blood work for 1 y/o

So my baby is now 14 months and I’ve been putting off doing her blood work to test for iron deficiency, lead etc. Can you share how that went for your baby? Do they draw blood like they do for adults from the inside of the elbow?? Or do they use the heel like they do for newborns?? We go to Kaiser permanente if that helps.

My daughter is 17 months but she got blood work at 14 months for an egg allergy test
I thought it was gonna be finger or heel prick but was completely shocked that they do it just like they do ours 😩 I was a nervous wreck

she didn’t even budge lol, didn’t cry or anything 😂 they found her vein pretty fast, whined for half a second at the initial prick but was okay after

the only part that bothered her was having to hold her arm still while they drew it

oh no. I don’t think my baby will take this well. She gives me a hard time as soon as she notices we are in a hospital setting 😔

it’s the age 😩 12month and 15 month doc appointment was hell 🫠
we went to LabCorp though which isn’t the same setting so maybe see if you can go there?

*OH, wait when my daughter got tested for iron and lead it was a finger prick at her 12 month appointment & I think they do it again at either the 18 month or 2 year appointment so you might be okay

They pricked my son’s toe and he didn’t even notice. No tears! He was just watching the nurse

the initial blood test should be a heel or finger prick. but if their levels come back elevated for lead then they have to do an IV blood draw to get a more accurate measurement

I’ve been putting it off too i totally get it then her doctor left the practice and now I’m trying to find her otherwise i have to get a new pediatrician 😕

They drew it from the inside of the elbow for us. It was like holding a wet pig trying to keep them still long enough to draw blood

I wasn’t present for my son’s blood draw but it was drawn from his arm. My husband played Ms. Rachel for him and all went smoothly. He wasn’t bothered by the needle prick☺️

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

My little one is struggling with sleep

Hey! I'm in need of some advice please girls! My little boy is 20 months turns 21 months in 2 half weeks. He use to sleep through the night now he is waking up every single night in the early morning, I've had to transition him to a toodler bed as he kept climbing out his cot. Just need some advice on what I can do to help him get back in to a sleep pattern?

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
