Self Care

As a mom of two, with no support system, and doing the job of both parents on my own, I find it hard to wind down. Especially at night time. I am glad to be able to navigate this life with my children but the stress is so high that my eye & palm muscle in my hand are constantly twitching. How can I decompress and wind down without feeling “mom guilt”. I’ve struggled finding hobbies of my own and taking a hot bath just isn’t cutting it. Suggestions?

I’m in the same boat literally. I’ve been doing some yoga and making myself something to eat simple but really good that couldn’t enjoy when the kids were awake. Something like a face mask also helps and working on putting together a wardrobe for when we go out that I feel cute and put together in really helps

Feeling guilty goes away over time, it's not something cut and dry. (In my experience at least). Taking care of YOU is taking care of your kids. Taking care of you also shows your kids how important it is to take care of yourself. It teaches them self love, it's so important for everyone. Here are some self care things I do, #1 I put my kid to bed early like 7:15 so I can stay up until 9pm or so to do what I want, like watch my show, paint my nails, eat, shower in peace, do a face mask, etc. I'd say I try to get an hour of daytime me time a week. But I also do self care everyday. I do my hair and makeup, and put an outfit on. It really helps, my daughter does her makeup when I do mine or reads or plays, some days are harder than others but that comes with anything. Just try 1 small thing, and slowly integrate other self care acts

I love your vulnerability with this. I feel exactly the same - I’m a mother of 2 under 2 - stay at home / work from home and it’s tough. I tend to clean up (not so sexy…but) restoring my home as close as possible to its pre-kid state really does make me feel better. I’m starting to record videos of my routine and capture memories at home to upload on YouTube also as a hobby. I do really want to get out more…but I’m also thankful for the ability to be home.

I definitely can relate I'm exhausted and depressed

@Debra The wardrobe thing is a good idea, give me some tips!

@Terin I started a podcast but I just can’t seem to stay consistent. Cleaning is something I do to relieve myself, but lately Ive kind of gotten burnt out on it. Is burnt out a bad word??? lol 😂

@Luna literally every profile on here says sleep deprived and I feel that in my core! lol I’m exhausted too!!!!

@Tamerah not at all! A podcast sounds fun - be sure to add the info to your profile!
