Anyone else?? 😩

So I went to the doctors a couple months ago because every single time I’m laying down especially to go to sleep I get this pain at the top of my ribs and in the middle of my back that’s really causing me to struggle to breath. The doctors have said this is anxiety … which I’d understand if it wasn’t just when I laid down! I have anxiety and it does not feel like that.

This is gradually getting worse and worse the further I get into pregnancy I’m now 38 weeks on Tuesday. Anyone know what this could be or have any advice please? Physically feel unable to cope with it anymore I can’t sleep with it and can not get comfy!

I just hate to be made to feel like I’m over reacting but it’s getting to be a real struggle now 😅 and I hate to be stuck in triage for too long with my other daughter x

I struggle to breathe when I’m laying down and my pulse rate get higher which makes me feel uncomfortable and in pain too, but I think maybe me is down to have really low iron - have you had your iron levels checked?x

Avatar

yeah hun I have low iron and on tablets for it but still doesn’t help x

Avatar

it may be your iron levels babe, mine is really low and is causing me to not be able to breathe especially when laying down, I’m allergic to the tablets so I’m on the liquid but it’s only made my iron levels go up really slightly but not enough, ask for an iron infusion as that should help, I’m asking for one and going to try demand it lol as I’m worried about not have energy for birth and recovery x

mine wasn’t too low it was just lower side of normal so they didn’t think it was to do with that but god knows it’s just driving me insane 😅 yeah il defo have to ask I don’t know if they will bell with so little left now though x

Sometimes it can be muscular or the way baby is lying, I’ve got the same thing. Consultant said your rib cage can stretch during pregnancy also and ribs/ligaments can become loose and cause pain x

Are you laying on your side enough? If that makes sense 😂 If I lay on my back, I can't breathe then go faint! A pregnancy pillow might help also x

Avatar

yeah I can’t get comfy or breathe whether I’m on my sides or back it drives me mad 😩 I have a pregnancy pillow it use to help but doesn’t really anymore, I’ve tried a hot water bottle and everything nothing seems to be helping at the minute x

omg that must be so scary! I would deffo try another doctor then or call 111 - they might refer you to someone better. I hope it gets sorted asap. I bet its the where your bubba is laying on something important! X

Avatar

it is, it’s sets my anxiety off because I’m struggling to breathe so I know it’s not that in the first instant 🤦🏻‍♀️ yeah I’m going to ring triage tomorrow I think and see if they can look into it more x

I’m really struggling breathing when laying down too I think it’s just because baby is taking up all the room for my lungs when your sat/stud up they drop down a bit if that makes sense xxxx

I have the same thing, I spoke to my midwife who explained that when we lay on our right side baby can lay on an artery causing us to loose our breath a bit so it’s better to lay on your left side, I have have any issues when I lay on my left x

Avatar

it happens when I lay on either side 😩 x

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

It’s my birthday tomorrow.

Ok so I am going to be 35 years young. I can’t believe how much this life has thrown at me but it’s okay I’m a survivor. I am truly blessed to be alive. 🥳🧁🎂 The only downside is I won’t be celebrating my birthday because my man can’t take me out. So many emotions right now.

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?
