Full term is 37 weeks and most trusts let you go up to 42 weeks now, it’s a big window x

Dating scan is usually between 12-14 weeks

They go off baby’s measurements but baby could’ve had a growth spurt so it’s not really “wrong” or “accurate” and more of just an estimate for everyone. There are other factors like every woman having different cycle lengths, ovulation dates etc. but regardless the due date won’t change now and is just a way of roughly guessing when they’re due. As in the estimated due date? Or giving you how many weeks you are in the scan? Usually no, they’re usually spot on gove or take a few days

Yes they can be off, if you don’t have a clear view of when you ovulated the scan can be inaccurate.

Even though I know exactly when I ovulated there is no way of knowing exactly when my due date is as all babies will grow at different paces, a number of factors can impact when you go into labour and no one pregnancy is exactly 9 months it’s a range.

If you have concerns around who the father may be etc the only way of knowing for sure would be a dna test if those encounters happen within a close timeframe xx

how many weeks can they scan be off

Hard to say, ultrasounds have a margin of error of 15% and at your dating scan your talking MM to determine “age” so I would say it could be a good week maybe 2.

Other factors are things such as implantation etc everyone has different “waits” between conception and implantation so factors like this can absolutely impact your ability to date conception from a dating scan.

Is there a reason your worried ? If not I wouldn’t worry about it being so close to the end you will have baby when you have baby not much you can do to plan when baby will come into this world xx

The dating scan is going to be no more than 2 weeks out realistically because a 10 week fetus looks totally different to a 12 week and a 14 week is much larger than a 12 week.
I had early scans and knew pretty much when I ovulated and at my growth scan at 13 weeks he was measured at exactly 13 weeks so I'd say they are pretty accurate.
