Reassurance scan wasn't reassuring

Hi everyone I'm looking to see if other people have had early scans thinking they are further along, than what is shown on the scan. My last period was the 22nd January I average a 32/34 day cycle and ovulate on CD21/23 I had sex on 11th Feb which is CD21 so conception is around then. Now according to my lmp I should be 7 weeks, but my scan is showing 4 weeks with just the gestational sack. It was preformed abdominal. Now I Don't ovulate until around 3 weeks after my period which would make the dates right, I have a rescan booked for Good Friday. Does anyone have any experience with the dates being so far apart. I'm terrified that it's a blighted ovum. I am still getting very strong positives even hot a dye stealer on the boots test.

Have you gone online and used an ovulation date prediction instead of LMP as this wouldn’t be right based on a 28 day cycle because your cycles are longer. I have 35 day cycles and ovulate anywhere from day 17 to 21. I had a similar pregnancy with my last, where I thought I was 8 weeks, went for a scan and could only see gestation sac measuring 6 weeks. Unfortunately it wasn’t good news for us and it was a blighted ovum and I ended up MC naturally. But this does not mean yours is bad news as irregular cycles, ovulation and the actual date of implantation is a big factor! If you have any questions feel free to ask xx

This happened to me I had a rescan I week later and the sac had got bigger but they still couldn’t see the baby and I should of been about 8 weeks so they decided to rescan a week later one more time before they would have classed it as a failed pregnancy and when I went back they saw the baby and the heartbeat and everything was fine x

@Dawn how did you keep your mind off it? I can't concentrate on anything. I regret getting the scan to be honest.

@Gemma yes the conception calculator has put the dates around 9-14 which would be correct. I guess I'm just worrying & over thinking. If you don't mind me asking how long did it take for your body to start the miscarriage?

When I popped your date of conception in it came back as 7 weeks, but again implantation can take up-to 10 days I think? So their could be a discrepancy. I have seen so many positive stories when researching for myself, so I really hope yours is the same!! As it does happen especially with longer cycles. My gestation sac continued to grow so was quite a bit bigger and I was around 9/10 weeks when I MC. So a couple weeks after finding out. This was my 2nd miscarriage in 5 months. I was also still testing positive as with this type of pregnancy you still have all symptoms. Please keep us updated on the re scan, I hope all goes well! Xx

@Katie I’ve also just seen on your other post you didn’t track ovulation and their could be two dates conception occurred. So it could be the later date which would make sense according to your dates which is reassuring 🤍 xx

@Gemma the only other time I had sex was the 25th Feb, my first positive was the 27th. So surely it couldn't of been the 25th?

@Katie oh okay I didn’t see that part sorry. Maybe you still ovulated later so let’s say you did the deed the 11th ovulation didn’t occur until 15th ish. Then let’s say implantation took around 7 days, it still could be around the 22nd which then this could still work. I know it’s hard but try keep positive and trust your instinct, rest up xx

@Katie tbh I just tried to not think about it I’d had a miscarriage 2 months previous so I just assumed I’d had another and has that as my mind set which obviously isn’t positive but as soon as she said there was a heartbeat it was just the best feeling x

Mine was wrong I had an early scan & I measured at 6 weeks 2 days whereas I had a scan at the hospital (vaginal scan) and I measured at 10 weeks literally 2 days later. The 10 weeks was correct then confirmed at my booking appointment. If its a scan of the belly not much can be seen so early xx

You can predict your ovulation all you want, but you’ll ovulate when you ovulate lol I thought I was a whole week ahead based off my period and ended up being a week behind. My sister thought she was 8 weeks, ended up being 10. Also abdominal is not the best way to do that, so make sure next time is a transvaginal and they leave it in a little longer to see if anything develops. I found out at 3w3d pregnant, my first ultrasound my uterus was completely empty, my second ultrasound ( few days later) was the same, the my third one, a week after my second one, showed a gestational sack and my tech had to leave it in for about five minutes for the yolk sack to develop. After that I waited two weeks to be able to see the fetal pole.

I’m surprised they didn’t do a transvaginal scan as well. When you’re that early it can be more accurate. I’d ask for that if things are still a little fuzzy next time.

@Kiarra that’s a lot but that would explain why my sonogram says 3 days ahead of my cycle calculations Sonographer calculated due date based on size of the baby Sept 23 but going by last cycle due Sept 26 The baby will come when the baby is ready 🤷🏽‍♀️

@Shontell if it’s within 4 days they usually won’t change the due date. They changed mine because it was 6 days different

@Kiarra not saying they changed it every time they pull up my chart both dates show on the screen right before she starts the sonogram

@Gemma not yet, my scan is Friday. But still blazing positive tests, sore boobs, bloat & nausea. So good signs. I will definitely update everyone. 😊
