I've had a few ultrasounds in my life, previously for cysts on my ovaries but of course more recently for an early scan and follow up after finding out I'm pregnant.
Both of these times, an internal scan has been done (as opposed to the standard ultrasound) due to size of baby, but I'm well aware I'm due the external ultrasound which is filling me with terror.
I understand its necessary, and of course I'll be getting it done for the sake of wellbeing of baby, but the thought of having that done, the pressure on my lower stomach etc brings me out in a sweat and whilst I'm there I find it physically nauseating.
Does anyone else have this issue? I've never heard of anyone else being so physically uncomfortable and/or panicked by the thought of an ultrasound.

No I had so many I began to find them quite boring after the first one. There’s only so much you can see.
I think I would do a private one first and practise and explain the situation. They will probably be very kind and think of ways to help you, as well as extra gentle

The pressure for a pregnancy scan is not as bad as when they do a diagnostic scan, I’ve had them done a few times in the past and they’re horrible. But when I had a private pregnancy scan they barely pushed into my stomach and I do have a bit of a belly so was expecting them to be rummaging around but no they didn’t need to
Hopefully you’ll have the same experience x

I found the 12 week scan uncomfortable as well (with my last pregnancies I’m yet to have one for this one). I really didn’t enjoy how far they had to push down trying to get the angles they needed!
I will say though that the later scans are nowhere near as uncomfortable as baby is bigger and usually easier to see xx

Is it your first pregnancy?

You absolutely can push out scans you dont need to have them as often as they would like.

@Hristiyana it is yes, should that have an effect?

Aside from having to drink a tone of water beforehand and not wee so they can get a good image I much prefer abdominal ultrasound to internal ones.

@Shannon oh I wish I could! I do think there's an element of trauma that affects it too if I'm honest, I'd rather do internal ones all day every day
