Feeling rubbish about this news.

So went to my 32 week growth scan they have high spotted amniotic fluid. (polyhydramnios )Which they are going to monitor in the next scan if it’s still there then I will have to be induced at 39 weeks they did say it could be cleared by then so not to worry ect but also need to be monitored again for gestational diabetes which I’m gonna be waiting for a call if it comes back then I may need to be induced at 38 weeks. Has anyone else been through any of these and baby come out fine ? Good thing is that baby is weighing on the size he should be doing.

A few of the mums in my group last pregnancy had this. Apart from being exhausting from the weight of the fluid, it didn't make a difference at all. Babies were all healthy, just a ton of fluid which made for some fun splash stories when they were induced 🤣 Honestly, shaving weeks off your due date is a blessing in disguise. Those last few weeks are utterly miserable.

@Holly Thank you for the reassurance that really helps☺️

I was found to have severe poly at a 28 week growth scan, I’ve just had my 32 week scan and fluid is down in the normal range, I think it can self correct and doesn’t always have to lead to interventions. They asked me to redo my diabetes screening as baby was measuring 90th centile however he is just a big baby. I know it is easy for me to say but do try and take each week as it comes and try not to stress. I found a Poly support group ‘Polyhydramnios Support’ on Facebook which was really reassuring and full of stories.

@Fran Thank you for that I will check the group out ☺️

I’ve just had 34 week scan and they’ve found too much amniotic fluid but baby is average size. I don’t know what the next steps are but I’m really stressed out about it! X

I'm in the same boat. I'm 32 weeks but currently measuring equivalent of 38 weeks. Baby is on the bigger side, but interestingly, sonographer said that often the extra fluid creates a magnifying glass effect, and said often baby comes out normal sized. I only just had it diagnosed yesterday by scan, but at 21 weeks, my midwife felt I had it, but sonograph dept wouldn't do a growth scan then. At 27 weeks I had the diabetes test which was fine. They took 'Torch' bloods from me yesterday and referred me for another diabetes test, scan in 2 weeks time and a consultant review. I've found it hard to find reliable information on the Internet (seems all doom and gloom), but found my hospital has a good pdf leaflet which I can share with you. x

@Becca Thank you can you message please about the leaflet? I have my last scan on the 18th at 35 weeks after my 34 week midwife appointment. they will tell me if i need to be induced on my last scan not happy about being induced. I agree with you google is scary and just puts you with too much stress and worrying x

@Letitia I am in the same boat 😨they have told me I need to be induced if the fluids haven’t cleared on my last scan which i’m not too happy about but suppose he will be on safe delivery with coming a bit early I just hope he’s grown a bit more by then x

@Gabby you can always refuse an induction. I will be. I had a previous csection so the risks that come with induction are increased! Xx
