St Mary’s Screening Results

Had a missed call from the generic Manchester hospitals number 5 hours ago and they haven’t called me back. I had my 12 week scan and screening 8 days ago and haven’t had the results back yet. Can anyone who had high risk results tell me how they were told? I’m on holiday and waiting around staring at my phone has completely destroyed one day already.

I was told by the phone about my results. Try not to stress, they were lovely and laid out everything really clearly and had me in asap for further testing. Try not to worry xx

We were classified as high risk after the 12 week scan & a further scan at 14 weeks with fetal medicine. The nuchal translucency measurement was high and my baby’s abdominal wall hadn’t sealed - they suspected a trisomy. I had chorionic villus sampling (where they take a sample from your womb with a needle) and chromosome testing. We received our results over the phone. We missed the original call and they didn’t leave a message. We eventually got through and had the all clear :) Not leaving a message doesn’t necessarily mean bad news, I know it’s so hard not to worry. Our baby is 1 now and perfectly healthy - his tummy was just a bit late sealing in the pregnancy. If you were seen by fetal medicine or one of the specialist midwives I would try one of their numbers x

I’m with St Mary’s at Wythenshaw and they told me that they’d only call if it came back as high risk. Well I had the same missed call and fretted about it. I think I eventually rang the Wythenshaw Midwives’s the next day and got them to check my results for me. Turns out I was low risk and they were just calling to tell me the results were ok!! 🙈 I’d call them tomorrow on whatever number you have and see if you can speak to someone to put your mind at ease xx

I was in another nhs trust at that point but was told by phone that I was higher risk. Also got additional tests done quickly and they came back low risk. My baby was born in October and absolutely fine. I know how stressful it can be if that is the news but it is highly likely the more accurate tests will come back low risk. X

Thanks everyone - will call every number I can find tomorrow.
