Repeat C-section

I had an emergency c-section in 2022 and it was the most horrifying painful experience ever. I just had a PLANNED one today and it was 100x better and less painful. 🥰🥰 I was terrified to come in today but everything went very smooth and according to plan. My twins are healthy and I’m in minimal pain 🥰 walking around already :)

Hiya can I ask why is it better from last times?

I have been recommended to have one for the baby were currently brewing, and I'm dreading it after having an emergency one for my first in 2021 it was rather traumatic... What was different with this one?

Electives are such a different experience and recovery. I’m so happy for you and congratulations on becoming a twin mummy! Xx

@Khadijah the biggest reason is usually because the nerves there are already dead since they have been cut once so you don't have that massive "trauma" that your body is overloaded with.

@Liv @Khadijah it’s also because an elective is done when you haven’t been labouring, exhausted and both you and baby in distress and danger. You walk in happy and rested, you only recover from surgery not the bodily trauma of labour on top. Unlike an emergency, they can take their time. Really keep it neat and think about placement etc. There’s no rush to save a life so recover is usually better all round. My friend had an emergency and was in hospital for over a week, I had an elective and was in the pub the day after discharge and then went to Costco xx

@Elise no labor pains :) I got a spinal instead of an epidural. I’m not sure what went wrong during my first c section but it was over 2 hours long and this one was only 45 minutes :) I was conscious throughout the whole surgery. A lot less pain after words as well.

I feel so much better about my planned c section now, thanks guys ❤️ 9 yrs ago I had an emergency c section and the pain was unbearable. I cried everyday, I couldn’t eat, & I was in labor for 3 days before then.

@Bri the best of luck! It’ll feel totally different this time round 🩷 I had the radio on, lots of laughter in theatre, camera rolling, instant skin to skin, delayed cord clamping and lost only 300ml of blood. It really was very calm and the pain was no more than bad period cramps. I can only imagine a cat1 emergency can be the total opposite xx

@Sarah we have an elective next week on Wednesday, after a few complications that popped up last week. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ve been worried and scared of the procedure / recovery ❤️‍🩹

@Annalise no worries, all the best of luck. If you have any questions, feel free to message xx

@Martha that sounds like a dream compared to mine and your first one, they had to completely put me under for my C section, I had to be included for safety reasons and hubby wasn't there so went through it all alone in that regards, it was quite scary

Yes! So glad to hear. I had the same experience :) For years, many women told me electives were better & now I agree…the surgery & recovery was way better & less painful & I was less emotional postpartum.
