Weaning

Tried to wean my 6 month old a couple of times. She just refuses to open her mouth. When she does and has a tiny bit, she which makes a gagging face (which I know is normal) then won't open it. Once or twice she has made herself sick after making gagging and choking faces Tried with bricolli, potato, banana, Carrott and even moved to baby porridge to see if she prefers to start on that. Not sure what to do a I know family judgement will start that she doesn't open her mouth. Any ideas on what to do Thanks

Hey are you doing puree or BLW? With BLW babies will do it themselves, like with a teether they'll bring hand to mouth and open their mouths. Try give it a go. Or I got these spoons by Numnum off Amazon, you can pre-load them with something like a mash consistency and because they're small enough for bub to handle she grabs the spoon off me and feeds herself. It's a massive learning curve, please have patience with yourself and know you're doing your absolute best

My little one did this to start, it’s pretty normal. Keep trying x

I’m in exactly the same boat as you!

@Sanam tried both. She played with the food a couple of times (not everytime) but doesn't put it near her mouth when she does. Hoping if I keep at it, she will start to open her mouth more and enjoy food

Exactly that, just keep at it. It's a huge skill for them to learn. My bub is super mouthy and loves chewing teethers so I think its easier with her. But my first born took ages to come round to it all. No hard and fast rule, just keep trying and exposing bub to the food, that's all you can do
