Child benefit - have to register within 12 weeks?

I was delayed registering my baby officially as had issues sorting if father would be on birth certificate. The registering office were fine about it not being within the 6wks baby was born even though my mum told me there would be a fine of it wasn’t done within 6wks. Well I’ve had to reschedule our appointment today as unfortunately she’s not well. Hopefully to reschedule and officially register her later this week / early next week.

My mums saying she has to be registered and you out in claim for child benefit before 12wks or you loose the chance for getting child benefit for the 18yrs of their life. Is this true does anyone know?

If you Google it, citizens advice says you can claim child benefit at any point during your child's life.

I believe you have to do it within a certain time frame to ensure that the first payment is backdated to date your baby was born

To my knowledge they will only backdate to a max of 12 weeks so youd maybe only loose out in that sense xx

Also normally you don't have to take LO to actually register them incase there ill again etc we didn't take our LB x

ahh good to know. Thankyou. Unfortunately I’m her only carer and a baby minder I have to pay premium for. Luckily they rescheduled us with no issues

thanks, your right. This is what it seems they’re saying, thanks. Was half asleep after late night with little one last night couldn’t work out on Google 🙈

They only backdate 3 months. So if you put your claim in say 16 weeks you won't pay you 16 weeks only 12 weeks. X

This is not true. You can only claim for the past 12 weeks, so you may miss out on the first few weeks of payment

Is this little red bit on my section scar normal? It’s not oozing anything, doesn’t hurt but it’s the only bit on my scar like it so just curious! (19 days PP)
Thank you in advance! 🥰

Anyone else felt like this?

Hi, I’m 4 months postpartum, little one sleeps through the night and is formula fed, the last week I’ve felt extremely tired and very hungry! Just wondered if anyone else has felt this way/experienced this?

Early waters/pre term labour?

I can’t get checked until later today unfortunately. I can’t tell if I’m leaking/starting early. I definitely think I’m having braxton hicks yesterday and today.. i have some pain in my back but she is quite low down so hoping it’s just pressure, baby was a little quieter yesterday but she’s back to more normal movements today, but my underwear just seems to get so wet, especially after going to the bathroom. And I honestly can’t work out the smell, I’m pretty sure it’s just discharge/urine leaking but there’s that worry in my mind a little. Are there any other ways to know/check if it could be the start of it all?
