C-section

Does anyone know why if they advise a C-section why they do it at 39 weeks? I thought it would be around 38 so it’s less likely you’ll go into labour?

Just to make sure baby is fully developed in terms of lungs etc. My midwife told me statistically speaking there are more complications with babies born at 37 or 38 weeks than 39. Obviously if you go into labour early you still get your c-section

There's risks to having an elective section before 39 weeks that aren't worth it unless the risks to baby/mum are higher due to medical conditions. So, if your baby stops growing it's ASAP, but if it's just something like baby is breech, it's 39+.

All of my babies born before 39 weeks and all were healthy I’m having an elective section and they going to do it before 39 weeks as I’m also high risk pregnancy and the consultant agreed it’s best not to wait until my labour starts. It’s all upto your consultant if you have one what they think it’s best but still if you go into labour before the section date you still gonna get a section just you might have to wait if any emergency going on

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?
