I'm a new mom and so with my son being my first child, I didn't know what the contractions would feel like until I finally did have contractions. They were not as bad at first for me, felt like a really strong period cramp. However, when I got to the hospital and they had me in an evaluating room before they took me to the delivery room, even when I was in the delivery room. I felt like I was in excruciating pain and that was just the contractions. I've never felt pain like that and the actual birth. My birth story was definitely traumatic for me, especially after my son came out and the placenta came out. Everyone's pain tolerance is different and usually I have a high pain tolerance to things. I definitely think because it was my first that I didn't know what to expect so when it actually came down to it that I had immense pain for me mainly during the birthing process. Honestly when I go to have another child it might not be so bad.

Thinking back, I think describing a contraction is not possible. Yes it’s a little like period cramps but for the life of me I would not be able to describe what my contractions felt like. All I know is they hurt lol

Period cramps

Just like period pains.
I went into hospital when I was 4cm dilated and kept asking the midwife if the pain will get any worse and she told me they would. But honestly I didn’t think they were *that* bad xx
