How long do I wait?

Lost mucus plug at 5am this morning, and bled very lightly for around an hour afterwards with further discharge.

I had contractions start shortly after which were happening every 40 mins. Since 10am this morning they progressed to every 20 mins.
It’s now just gone 5pm and they’re still only coming every 15/20 mins..

I’m just not sure how long to leave it like this? Starting to get tired and a bit bored if I’m honest.. but I also have a toddler to get looked after if I go into hospital and am conscious I don’t want it to be a huge panicked rush!

I'd give triage a ring and ask them. My hospital tells you to go in when you start having 4 contractions within 10 minutes.

it’s been so different to my first baby who arrived super quickly after waters breaking.
I wasn’t expecting such slow progress this time round!

You can give triage a call, it might depend on your hospital’s policy, but at my hospital they encouraged me to stay at home for as long as possible, they weren’t particularly bothered about frequency/length of contractions.

Avatar

with my first it depended on how busy they were at the time of me calling. I think I’ll give them a shout and see what they say x

It’s deffo worth giving your maternity unit a call, I’d mention to them about you bleeding too (if you haven’t already) as they may just want to check you over!

I think it just depends on the hospital, with both of mine they said to just come in when I couldn’t handle it at home.. almost ended up giving birth at home with the second as it progressed much faster 😂

Rang triage and they’ve recommended paracetamol & a hot bath as I’m progressing pretty slowly and ring back when I can’t handle things😅😅

Avatar

They say when the contractions are coming every 5mins for over an hour to call the maternity unit x

Have a look at spinning babies, might help your body get baby get into the optimum birthing position (that’s what your contractions are currently doing so it’s a helping hand) & then bring contractions closer together x

Paracetamol can also slow labour so if you’re not in too much pain I would personally avoid taking it x

Thank you for the advice guys! Little guy was born this morning at 1:40am..
We progressed to 4cm at home and had a fantastic delivery despite a failed epidural😅xx

Congratulations! Hope you’re both doing well 🥰

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Rolling milestone at 5 months - What’s typical ?

Good morning ladies,

My daughter will be 5 months old tomorrow, but there’s still no sign of her rolling. She does tummy time and loves lying on her mat, playing with hanging toys above her and to the sides, but she only lifts her legs and doesn’t seem interested in rolling or moving sideways yet.

Anyone else the same or have your babies already learnt how to roll yet ?

Thank you
