Has anyones newborn had prolonged jaundice? My 19 day old baby has prolonged jaundice and been referred to the hospital for urine and blood samples. I've been told 2 out of 3 tests have come back just above borderline not massively high, but still over. I did assume my baby would then need treatment, but I've been told we can go home and come back to hospital next week to retest and see if levels are dropping. Im just so worried and hope its normal and wonder if anyone else has been through similar

My LB had jaundice when he was born. We got to just under treatment level so he didn't get any sort of treatment. We just had to keep feeding him every two hours to help flush it out. He also had blood or light tests most days after he was born for two weeks.

Are you breast feeding? My little one had jaundice for a little while I can’t remmeber how long it lasted for but probs up to 3 weeks or slightly after! And I’m breast feeding and was told breast fed babies have it worse and it can last up to 6 weeks with them. My little one also didn’t have any treatment for it, we were just told to feed her often, and make sure she was doing plenty of wet/dirty nappies which is a good sign that it’s being flushed out x

We just got another blood test at her 4 week check up, she’s in the range right below the range that would require treatment so they have never sent her but im right there with ya mama!

My little girl had borderline jaundice. She couldn’t latch so we did combo feeding and found formula flushed it out really quickly. Her levels gone down by the time we were discharged by the midwife
